Fellaini. Then, Morgan.

I agree with you though, TFM should get a shot at the holding role.

Would be good if he developed into one. How's his all round passing and close control though?

Not seen enough yet.

RB seems likely first

bottom line, Utd are still poor. and the same problem persists when rooney and the deadwood are still around.

the 4231 also is not the answer when you want to be playing Martial as an actual forward.

Pogba, Zlatan welcome additions to the PL likewise Jose

but i'm not convinced about Utd till the players you mentioned get punted

Carrick is still a ideal partner for any of our midfield 3,3 being the choice Jose will stick too.

Now obviously Carrick hasn't got a great deal left in the tank and we clearly need to get that sort of composed ball playing individual in the team long term.

Personally would love for us to go for Dier.Think he has got good potential to developing into that sort of player.

If Morgan can get back up to the standards when playing fot saints - then it's a no brainer

I agree that Rooney is deadweight, even though he had contributed a goal and an assist in the first two games. I genuinely think he's the only hole we have in the first XI now.

Give Pogba's partner a defined role and I think they can flourish under Mourinho's style.

Martial is most impactful as an inverted winger, think he's fine where he is.

Fellaini. Jose, like myself appreciates what he offers so hopefully Fellaini keeps up this form and makes believers out of you all

If he shaves his hair off and stops elbowing people, whilst upping his performance levels by 3 I'd start to believe

I actually think herrera could do it... if both were really disciplined when the other makes a run.

Blind too

There isn't an actual rule that says that in a midfield two one has to be a DM and one an AM. Why not have two midfielders who can perform both roles? It'll take a bit of work but I too agree that Pogba plus one of Herrera, Schneiderlin, Fellaini and Carrick could work.

posted on 27/8/16

From what we currently have maybe Bastian is the most likely long term partner, or Fellaini if he keeps up his form.

But I'd say it's more likely we'd bring in top quality DM next summer, not sure who? I'd also say that it isn't definite that we will operate 2 in midfield for the future. Say Rooney is finally removed from the side you could operate 2 offensive CMs (Pogba and Mik) ahead of a DM.

like u said it is better to have 2 cms who can both attack and defend. The problem is with most top teams now playing 3 man midfield most 2 man midfield will be overrun by the best of teams.

it will take a special 2 man midfield to compete at the highest level against 3 man midfield. i believe pogba is one half of this, but i cant see any of current cm being the other. I do have hope for TFM, he gives the same sense of conviction i had watching a young pogba that he will become on of the very best

I agree that you would need a good two. There is also responsibility on the rest of the team as well to contribute.

If you put Mkhitaryan in the No10/attacking midfielder role and Lingard on the right I'd say you have a pretty hard working four there allowing more freedom for Martial and Zlatan.

It can be done with a two but I am sure that for some games this season we'll see a midfield three in the 'tougher' games.

All in all though the signs are positive for the season and that is the main thing.

This is why I think England should have persevered with Gerrard and Lampard. Just never really got a chance together.

I'd have assumed that Pogba's current girlfriend has the best chance of becoming his long-term partner.

Yes, I do regret just typing that.

Match dependent, I doubt we will find a versatile CM like Pogba to accompany him.

I see strengths with Herrera, but also weaknesses. Same goes with Fellaini, two totally different players.
Schneiderlin is maybe in the middle of the two in terms of versatility, but haven't performed on the level to expect. There will be rotation though, and all the players mention above will have their try in the patner role.

Pogba and TMF.

Carrick and schweinsteiger need to be moved on.

Bigger problem is just how slow the team is going forward. Ibrahimovic Rooney mata fellaini. Fairly dull to watch still unfortunately. Need someone with a bit of pace behind ibra and Rooney/mata to be benched/sold.
