He's lost that acceleration that made him impossible to deal with in 1vs1 situations and open spaces, but his sheer brilliance more than makes up for it.

His passing has gotten better and he's gotten better with his right foot.

A footballing genius. His finishing has been better this season too.

These are the years when we see his football brain kick into gear and show us his next level, more assist than glory but finally taking over from his fellow countryman as the Greatest ever.

They were right when they said John Stones was the new Ferdinand

Shame it turned out to be Anton...

He's long since passed DM in my book.

But yes quite correct these next few years will be interesting. His brain and passing are so good he could play in the middle if he needs to drop back

He will still be playing for Barca at 35/36 I reckon injurys aside.

I doubt ronaldo will be at Madrid till that age TBH.

i was laughing at how they were saying Messi does not run around enough. The mentality in this country is so poor. it's not about running around like a donkey. it's all about grace, skill and technique. nothing else matters.

Nah, you've got to track back, you've got to give 110% every game, you've got to cover every blade of grass, you've got to have power as well as strength, pace as well as speed...

It's got so bad that they now use distance covered as a barometer of how well a team has played.

Not against the current version he wouldn't.

It would be cruel seeing him up against Cahill n sideshow.

Imagine Cahill trying to deal with Messi poor Gary would have to retire after the game.

Tbh the more I hear stats these days the more I see regression as a footballing nation.

He's at an age now where he should think about dropping back into the number 4 role. His vision is akin to scholes and Xavi in their prime...suprised no pundit has come up with this yet.

posted on 20/10/16

I think the jist of the argument has always been that he wouldn't score many goals from the treatment table, which is undoubtedly where he'd spend a lot of his career in England after Lee Cattermole was done with him.

How many PL games did C Ronaldo miss through injuries inflicted by opponents?

posted on 20/10/16

The maradona argument will always relate to World Cup performances and winning the Italian league with an unfancied side,on this issue maradona shades it as Leo can only point to his greatness at one top of the tree club and threatened retirement from international football due to lack of trophies.

Why on earth do that when his goal scoring still as good as ever, still one of if not the best at picking out runners getting behind the line while es in final third or initiating a quick one two on edge of the box.

posted on 20/10/16

As good as he is, still hasn't managed to to register a single goal against Chelsea, considering how many times Chelsea played Barca over the years !!!

No way. He's still got 3/4 years up top.

You can't even think about thatbwhilst he's scoring more goals than he's playing games.

Or you could look at what he's done, how many he's scored, how many wpoty he has how many trophies he's won. It's not really a close contest. He's achieved more than maradonna.
