The Whisperers don't really kill anyone of real import. At least not anyone that fans of the TV series alone will be heavily invested in. Will be good fun to see how hey are depicted though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The character I'm talking about is just more a shock value death. Totally didn't see it coming (the spike one)
Speaking of spoilers, I stupidly read the leaked stories from the next series of Game of Thrones.
Read everything all the way to the final scene of the last episode.
Epic stuff but wish I hadn't read it.

It's clear Negan doesn't like gingers or those of a far eastern descent
My only gripe would be that Rick didn't actually chop his sons arm off. I've never liked that kid!

I was hoping the bat would find him.

Saw it last night and the only word I could use to describe it is grim. I'm not squeamish but it did leave me feeling a bit sick. Still thought it was good though.
One big difference from TWD and other zombie films/tv series is that there is no miraculous cure. The world they live in is it. There is no hope. I've read a few interviews with Kirkwood, creator of the comics and series, and he's said that it's always been a story about the threat of humans on one another. More so than the walkers. It's also interesting seeing how the characters have evolved from their normal lives, pre apocalypse, to doing some heinous things after coming to the realisation that it's the fellow humans they come across that are the biggest threat to their survival.
The only natural end I think there will be is death for the survivors, and not a natural one.
I think what annoyed me most was how cheaply manipulative it was that they dragged the whole thing out so much. The Glenn "dying" thing in the middle of the last season really annoyed me and I stopped watching for a while until I ran out of good TV to watch. The fact they did all those cheap flashback stuff with Rick seeing all the characters die for some reason, when obviously he'd be visualising those who actually died, was just stupid. I get they want to try and wrangle as much drama as possible out of it but it shouldn't be to the extent where it makes absolutely no narrative sense.
Kind of feel like I can't be bothered watching any more. Since this Gimple guy came on it really seems to have got worse, very little of the character development or intriguing storylines that made it gripping initially and it feels already like it's been going on for too long. That said, I know lots of the people who read the comics say that Negan is one of the most interesting/best characters with some angles that can be exploited, so hopefully they can utilise that. I think I might just read the comics and wait and see what people think of the next few episodes.

Was interested in chatting about this.... but why do people insist on discussing spoilers further into the season or what happens in the comics?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree, my wife sits there having read a few things on the internet about what's about to happen. Really don't see the point, kind of kills half the point of watching it.
Not a new thing, some people have always liked to say "the book was better" whether it was or not. It's a bit weird. But that always felt like some kind of intellectual snobbery, like reading was a dark art they'd mastered or something.
Not sure how that works with comics or just reading a direct spoiler - I guess people get a kick out of knowing something others don't.

The flashbacks weren't flashbacks. They were Rick envisaging what would happen to the group after Negan told him he would kill the lot of them if he didn't comply. Last nights episode was about Rick being brought down to earth after thinking he was the leader of a group of people that could take on the saviours and kill Negan. You saw Rick go from saying 'I'm going to kill you' to being powerless and weak in front of everyone. I thought Rick was getting too big for his boots anyway tbh.
Yeah the Glenn fake death last series was annoying.
Hats off to Andrew Lincoln who I remember seeing in things like This Life & Teachers, great actor
Rick should never have killed Shane. Should've let him rut with his annoying hound of a wife until his heart was content. Shane would never have allowed them to get into this mess.
There were flashbacks as well, CHF.

Sorry, no I mean there were flashbacks before we knew who had been killed and Rick was arsing about in the camper with big-chin bloke. These sort of segued into 'imaginings', I think it was meant to confuse the viewer.

Well yes but they were presented as flashbacks (flashbacks to his previous visions which I find pretty tenuous) and done so just so that they could wait 20 minutes to reveal who was killed. I get the whole Rick thing and that's fair enough (although let's be honest, there's no way Negan would decide not to go through with Carl's amputation).
I didn't see them as flashbacks myself. Rick was on top of the camper van he was going through everything he'd just seen and imagining what would happen if he decided to stand up to Negan. They filmed all of the group getting splatted for practical reasons, to avoid the cast knowing who it was and to avoid spoilers. Then used the footage yesterday.
I don't think Negan was ever going to have Rick cut Carl's arm off. It was all part of psychologically breaking Rick. Seemed to work.
Anyway I liked last nights episode. It was horrific but interesting at the same time. Good way of introducing a larger world the core group had been unaware of up until now.
Btw what is it with AMC and campervans? Same in Breaking Bad.
