fundamentally, he's picking big names at the expense of a good system.
Tactics against City first half.
Tactics against Liverpool second half.
Sometimes though the manager can get the tactics right but the players fail to adopt them.
He got it right at Liverpool and wrong at Chelsea
Pretty much that.
Defensively we don't look great yet which is a bit odd as that is usually a strong point of Jose's side.
In midfield he is still seemingly deciding on what he wants but it does seem to be getting there slowly. At home a 3 of Herrera, Pogba and Mata looks good but away especially to better sides you could say we are too defensive although I personally was very happy with the point at Liverpool.
Offensively our wide options haven't been great. Lingard puts in the effort but isn't the most creative. We all want to see what Mhki can do but we also need to be patient.
You could argue that Jose should be more ruthless in dropping/resting Zlatan. He has been poor the last few games and while I don't think he's done I do think we could at least see what we can do with either Martial or Rashford centrally. Would give us a very different dynamic that other players in our side would do well under.
1) Turning our back 4 into a back 6 versus Chelsea.
2) Lack of pressing opposition
3) Fellaini
4) Encouraging slow build up in the big games
5) Team selection vs City
"5) Team selection vs City"
I think in hindsight you can say that but so many were screaming for Jose to play Mhki after his Hull cameo.
You can't win with some fans, they want Mhki for the City PL game and he was clearly out of shape and injured. Then a few weeks later people are furious because Mhki isn't in the team to play City in the cup even though the manager has said he isn't match fit.
4) Encouraging slow build up in the big games
--------------------------------------------------
I don't think this is something José or any manager for that matter encourages.
1. Treatment of Schweinsteiger. Okay if you dont rate him or want him but don't humiliate the man.
2. Fellaini. I genuinely thought he'd sell him in summer. Just not good enough for us.
3. Poor substitutions. Bringing Mata off two times this season despite being our best player.
Some of his substitutions have been appalling.
His starting line up v Chelsea, and the handling of Schweinsteiger are really the only two things i could say thats baffled me so far.
For me though, Rashford must start being used in the middle, whether that means Zlatan is dropped or his position is changed i dont mind.

for me it wasn't so much picking mhki or his team selection as in personnel... it was the formation.
4-2-3-1 was always going to get over-run in midfield... when he made the subs...going with 3 in the middle and pushed Rooney to the right we were much better
if he'd went 4-3-3 with Mhki wide right of the 3 who knows... as it was playing a 10 in front of rather than an extra mf behind Pogba and Fellaini caused us as much problems as anything
I would suggest we look at every manager this season and ask about their tactical decisions and I bet they all have some pretty big skeletons in their closet.
Only by looking at all their mistakes can we paint a fair picture about Jose and his.
Pep dropping Aguero for the Barca game was silly considering how many chances they missed.
Don't even get me started on Conte and the Arsenal game
3. Poor substitutions. Bringing Mata off two times this season despite being our best player.
.................
All his substitutions were poor on Saturday. The worst was bringing on Fellani when you are chasing a goal and playing him as the DM.

other teams managers mistakes don't affect Jose performance for us though... that's pretty much an attempt to deflect criticism
it's ok to be critical, he has made errors... don't know why some of you think its such a crime
The thing about schweinsteiger is that were not getting results. What pep has done to yaya is very much the same. Not much is made of it though because they are top of league. That's the difference. Fans can put up with stuff like that when things go well. When they are not, these issues are brought up as to reasons why were not playing well.
I still think it's all been totally pointless though. He should still be playing and getting on bench at worst. Then sell him in Jan if you like.

I think theres another difference in that Yaya is prone to a tantrum and a strop anyway... peoples patience may have worn thin and just don't really care anymore.
Bastian for most of his career has came across as decent so its more of a shocker
I think dropping Blind after the City game was a mistake.

I have zero problem with people critiquing Jose. He has made mistakes.
But i think a fair debate would have a list of other manager mistakes as that would show that every manager makes them and they aren't as bad or damaging as some would believe
Pep has never liked Yaya though. Eto'o recently gave an interview on French TV and spoke about how much he hates Pep and his treatment to certain players. Pep is obviously a brilliant manager but his man management with certain players seems to get overlooked very easily, especially compared to other managers.
I think what Pep did with Hart was no worse than what Jose did with Bastian
I've said it a million times but every manager has a right to not want to play someone and sell them. We don't know the whole story behind Bastian's omission but I do feel there are perfectly understandable reasons to want to get rid of him like Jose wanted to.

Maybe but I think the danger of magnifying the mistakes Jose has made can lead to an unfair perspective when outside factors can tell more of fair story
