As an lfc fan I'd agree, it was the same for us last season.
The obsession with the top four has become massively overrated. As proven in recent years it far from guarantees you will be able to buy the best players and playing in the CL makes your next season's league campaign all the more difficult meaning there's a good chance you'll miss out the following year.
The money helps but there's nothing that compares to seeing trophies and Wembley finals as a fan.

poch don't do cups, but the league top 4 is looking increasingly unlikely every game we play. we just look so poor and have done for months.
we are traditionally strong over xmas, so if we stutter through xmas we will be so far off the pace that we might as well call it a day in the league and try and win cups.....
sad state of affairs at spurs currently really

We should be playing at White Hart Lane and going for it.
Unfortunately we will be playing at Wembley with the reserves

Spurs fan here............if you don't mind me commenting?
Don't get your hopes up mate.
As soon as we are drawn against a decent team he will rotate the team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I second your thoughts though we won't win it, Poch is disastrous in cups. I can't even remember when we had some form in a cup and had a good cup run.

Got to the league cup final didn't we and lost to Chelsea was the only time poch has gone for the cups properly

Too early to give up on 4th spot yet, Spurs are only three points of the CL place. However your league campaign shouldn't stop you having a proper go at the Europa league too !!! It will.be nice if an EPL club won it this seaaon.

Agree we are still in the mix but our league form is so poor. 2 wins from 13 is atrocious.
Keep thinking that most Spurs fans here have only been fans for the past six months or so?
It seems last year's super achievements has blinkered certain fans from understanding the long term plan that the team is pursuing - team means players and management.
That's why the average age of the team is one of the youngest in the league. Don't look at Chelsea who pao obscene money to mercenaries who play today and gone tomorrow. Remember last year? those exact players were picking up huge amount of pay cheques and didn;t put in any effort
As part of the plan, it's also vital the players are getting rotated so as many as them can get match and game experience.
That's why Pocho rotates so much - of course, also because we are limited in depth in experience - being a young side.
I'd rather have a long term plan and be successful for years to come then have a bunch of mercenaries who have nothing to do with the club other than picking up gross amount of pay cheques!

Jeezus didn't realise it was that bad.
That said we have got Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd away out of the way which is some faint form of silver lining.
We really need to push on now, get some wins, some good form and a bit of momentum.
If the CL champion finishes in a CL Group Stage position in its domestic league, then the Europa League champ also gets direct access to the CL Group Stage.
In that case, not only does it mean actually winning a trophy; in terms of what it gives you it's akin to finishing 3rd in the PL, not 4th.
op
for once a spurs fan not thinking they are above a competititon ( which you are not )
winning things is infinatley better than finishing 4th

To add on to that point. We really need to win either the Europa or the FA cup. Nothing helps creates long term success more than winning trophies. The confidence winning either will give huge confidence to this young group.
Rotating sensibly throughout the season in all three competitions is completely different to throwing in a second XI for the Europa League. destroying our chances of getting some much needed silverware.
Like you have a choice.
Sixth and FA Cup semi would be more realistic.
