Garry Monk: "My fault, I take full responsibility for that today, I selected that team"

posted on 29/1/17

Jesus.

What's the point in having a team? If only 11 ever play.

They need a long hard look at themselves after that

We had a gilt edge opportunity to get to the 5th round - if Sutton get Manuel or Chelsea I will scream.

You would get rid over half the members of our squad if you could. This was a bad day at the office and a poor performance. One bad game doesn't make a player bad.

That was our best chance in years to go on a very good cup run... monks selection very very poor. Arrogant. You can't just make 10 changes and expect these guys to adapt... ridiculous.

Meh.

I think the club could have made it a little more known before hand that they were not going to play a full strength side and let the fans know what they were traveling for, but its a cup game in a competition we are never going to win when we are in the play offs and have a thin squad.

had we played a full strength side and Jannson got the red and/or someone else picked up a knock then the same people on here moaning about the weak side would be moaning that we didn't put out a weak side.

Silvestri was our MOTM! Made some great saves.
Rest were garbage. Monk clearly doesn't give a crap about the F A Cup and that was reflected in his team selection. Come to think of it, I don't give a crap about the F A Cup either and with Blackburn away in a few days it was the right decision to play the fringe group, but they were absolutely dreadful and they let Monk and the fans down badly.

This will be a good learning process for the kids that got a chance today, they'll now know how it is when they come up against physical hard tackling experienced players, something that no doubt they will come across again!..

Poor game but the blame shouldn't all be pushed on the management, it should be pushed at the player's that were put there to do a job but did it badly!..

Oh, and the extra defender that sits just in front of the keeper behind the defenders, Comedy of errors I think his name is!..

Exactly Matty.

FA cup is declining year on year, 2m for winning it is rubbish.

Will follow same pattern year on year get more for finishing a position higher in prem.

Played full strength at Liverpool got done, would of happened again. Focus on the real prize

He played a massive part in them winning

A team like Leeds resting players ffs what's the FA Cup become.

Doesn't sound good on transfers. You do wonder whether they want promotion

Not fussed. Too many fixtures and not a big enough squad.

It was Coyle that gave the penalty away. Silvestri is a good shot stopper but useless at communicating with his defence and that showed because he and Coyle completely fooked it up between them

Agree Harrogate

Exactly, he bottled it when he needed to take the ball. Spilled it as usual. Useless. Breeds anxiety.

Just not a calming influence at all

Silvestri made some good saves. He was as much at fault for the penalty as Coyle.

posted on 29/1/17

Also if any professional goalkeeper didn't save their two shots, he should stop playing the game

posted on 29/1/17

With you on this Harrogate. We don't have the squad to mount a promotion challenge and cup run.

It was Coyle's trip for the penalty, but without the trip they would probably have scored because Silvestri was in a heap on the ground

Think it was the trip after that cost us the penalty

Yes it was. But Silvestri should of made his intentions clear, collided with our defenders way to many times for it to be dubbed a one off today. He turned his back instead of gathering it. Giving coyle the opportunity to do something stupid for which he obliged.

My ratings (a little less harsh than kebab legs)

Silvestri (Peacock Darrell must now be understudy)
Coyle (proved that Derby was a one off, league 2 standard right back)
Mckay (struggled at times but not the worst of the culprits)
Cooper (should of led by example but two stupid challenges led to a deserved dismissal)
Denton (utter garbage)
Philips (really overated, hear so much about his range of passing, not living up to his hype)
Grimes (terminate the bloody loan, awful just awful today)
Doukara (didn't turn up again, deserves to be benched for blackburn)
Dallas (flashes of minor quality, huffed and puffed but everyone around him were awful)
Whitehouse (needs another season in the reserves, wasn't the worst of the youngsters)
Antonnson (proof that if wood gets injured we are DUCKED)

posted on 29/1/17

Grimes was relied on to play too deep. Not a player that commands a presence. Phillips and Coyle should have spent last season out on loan learning the trade.
