How Boycotts Work

Not sure what’s irritating you most.

The transparent success of our boycott which you dismiss.

Or the fact that you know in your water your fans couldn’t do the same.

Looks like some Bears couldn’t agree on the colour of shytte these

days.

Quinn, Fergus went across Canada as well getting the backing of the supporters' clubs.

In fact he still owes the Montreal club $20 for a match he watched there.

Belter quebec.

That's ma Fergus.

I'd pay $200 for that invoice.

As I said - we did organize, we did boycott, we bought shares, we got a new owner

I know it doesn't fit with your stereotype but it's true. Show me how it isn't. Show me that Rangers fans haven't formed fans groups and bought shares, show me how these shares didn't make it possible to allow King to get Ashley out.

The success of who we have ended up with and who Celtic have is not the point.

The fact is (and it is fact) - Rangers fans DID organize in the way you keep suggesting is the only thing to do. I don't know why you are so wound up - we've already done what u are advocating ffs.

Yes Partick, and supported a "glib and shameless liar" take control of the club they claim to love.
A man who was also deeply involved with the man who sold your club for a pound; after getting it into an unserviceable debt.

I suppose that's better than a real billionaire who has put money into the shambles and got told to GTF.

I don't particularly like King but I'd think he's already put more money into Rangers than Sweatshop Ashley.

But the incontrovertible truth is that after all your efforts, you are still deep in the brown stuff with absolutely no visible prospect of getting out of it.

Curly<Honest question for and honest answer. Fans boycott V dempsey and Haughey. If you had to choose one of two parties as being the main reason McCann got involved then which would it be?>

Not sure what your Q means exactly Curly.

The boycott obviously came first & gave Haughey and Demspey a toe in

the door.

For me boycott = the first Peasants’ Revolt.

It brought McCann in as a player and threatened the White & Kelly mob.

At this tilting point the penniless cornerboys D & H scented blood.

Threw their hat into the ring with Charlie Green-style fairytales.

By this time McCann was here and called their bluff.

They wanted influence because of their shares.

McCann said ‘ but what will you invest of your own?’

Nothing was the answer.

So he bought all of the rsoles’ shares and rebuilt the shambles that was Celtic.

Haughey and Dempsey would have been right at home with Rangers 2012

to the present.

Boycott started it but other individuals and events finished it IMO.

Fergus McCann had the same advantage Atlee had for Labour in 1945.

The way he looked.

Small, oddball, balding, and squint eyed.

Grossly underestimated by those who thought they were the smarter.

The White and Kelly crooks found that out in a 90 minute meeting.

They left ashen faced but took the money and ran.

Haughey etc thought they could control wee Ben Turpin.

< Yeah - it's scheidt eh? >

Aye but what colour of scheidt is it?

You say it’s deep broon.

Stevie says it’s light tan.

Esc says it’s damn near black.

Nothing personal but ah’m gaun tae bed

They’ve been in a ‘Sack the Boards’ scenario for years now.

Don’t think the 2 clubs’ experiences are entirely dissimilar.

I take your point about long term aims.

As the months go by Rangers are becoming more and more fragmented.

At every level.

The fans need to unite but they won’t.

Their combined energy is formidable

Doing nothing is not an effective option for them.

But if this thread’s anything to go by that’s exactly what will happen.

We have just about a 30 pt lead and I now expect Ten in a Row.

Not sure that that’s how I want Scottish football to be though.

Running late offski.

Unite and boycott.

2 seasons would do it.

Alright pal.

Us lot are no good at boycotts......to oirishy!

I tried to boycott Eire goods, but the butter, bacon and bread did for me😁

Seriously though, us lot are not like yeez, in that we are not homogenious😉
We are Individuals, freethinkers, lonerider Clint Eastwood types, who do our own thing.

Basically, hard to control and organise.

No Curly.

Winter of 1993/4 there were several anti White/Kelly

individuals and groups.

The cornerboys had been in with Weissman and others but they fell out.

They thought they were smarter than McCann and asked him to join.

Useless toxic land owned by them was to be the new Celtic Park

McCann put his 5m in to stop the padlocks being put on the gate.

The cornerboys kept their hands in their pockets.

The real battle after that was won outside of the UK

Thousands of balance-tipping shares were held by old dolls.

Billy McNeill, Jim Craig and others went to see them and persuaded

them to sell.

Curly McCann was never in any fold.

He was a maverick and he brought himself in.

He had no allies and made no joint statements.

He had plenty of ‘spies’ and he was frequently in Scotland on business.

He used the media as well.

BBC Scotland and STV were fighting over him just before the takeover.

Both made special one off documentaries about him.

Curly

Only met him a couple and it was quick handshake and tourist photie

stuff.

He was affable but other folk who saw him more said he was a bit weird.

Heigh ho.

If I was getting a heart op I wouldn’t give a fvk if the surgeon had a

sense of humour or not.

We needed a triple bypass and a double colostomy btw.
