That doesn’t mean he’s not a massive diiickhead. It’s all a bit weird though as nothing was ever said about why he left, and the supposed falling out with Holland has been denied plenty of times.

Tbh I don’t really care because he’s not a miss for England, but I think it’s a bit of a shiiiiiitty attitude to refuse a call up.

Yeah as I said, there's lots of other good options and he gets a good rest so I'm not complaining. If he was the star defender though, I'd have hoped he'd just suck it up.

I’ll keep pushing my Barkley propaganda until the Euros. But I’m actually surprised he wasn’t considered because I think Southgate has always liked him and he’s actually played pretty well for England in his career.

From what I’ve read about the youth England groups that are coming through the deeper cm position is an area where we are more developed in terms of talent pool. A lot of people think the whole England DNA thing is starting to bear fruit in this area, which is an area Southgate and Ashworth were keen to try and address in their roles due to the lack of talent on the ball in cm.
