Course stats don't tell the whole story but conceeding 12/15 shots is no coincidence. Lloris needs to up his facking game

Totally agree..... we the exception of Genk (Dele's red card) its not like we have lost to poor sides.... Chelsea on more occasions than I care to remember, United, Arsenal, Monaco & Leverkusen in recent memory

Burnley could be on the wrong end of a tonking on Sunday.... I think the players & Poch are tired of this BS

if we lose to Burnley there will be serious questions tho...

12 out of 15 that's horrendous a 20% save rate! I know some goals you cant help but just watch like matics last year and pens to a extent but that's awful

posted on 21/8/17

It would help our cause no end if Hugo made the occasional save.

Bit Harsh ???? I think its his distribution that causes us most problems (plays us into trouble, just for the sake of retaining possession).... every now & again a big boot would do the job just fine.....one yesterday & we'd have a draw

I thought it was a great game on Sunday, great occasion full stop. Not sure how Spurs came away from that with nothing though (horrendous keeping aside), if Spurs had been awful and barely laid a glove on Chelsea I'd have been worried but you'll be fine at Wembley imo.

I watched your game yesterday and you controlled most of the game. What I noticed was you were a bit like us when teams sit deep in that i didn't see a plan B. Do you have one when things are not working? Can Poch switch it up?

Why can't anyone see that if you don't take your chances you don't win games .

It dosent matter if we have unlimited shots in a game goals win games end of.

Our finishing was poor , Chelsea took there chances they won the game.

we didn't play particularly well..our pressing and intensity wasn't there, we moved the ball around slow..the fact we had more of the game than chelsea shows how poor they were and missed their main players. like mentioned we couldn't finish and they scored a good free kick, we had way more set pieces and scored from one. if quality of them were better, that was our best chance of scoring, as one thing chelsea did was defend brilliantly.

I think people are being a bit harsh on Lloris. Fair enough the last goal he was at fault for two reasons but the rest of the goals over the last several games are down to bad defending or coaching.

You give free kicks away just outside the area (Toby & Dele) and you get punished.

You give the ball away and a team breaks on you get punished (Wanyama).

You play a forward at left wing back and they are likely to make a fatal mistake like giving a pen away (Poch).

You fall asleep from the first corner kick given away and leave a player with Hazard's ability free on the ball you are likely to concede a goal (Kyle Walker).

You defend badly from set pieces you give goals away (Gent - can't remember who was at fault, was it Lloris?).

Maybe Lloris was at fault for some of the others but in my opinion he has been let down by his team mates or manager on many occasions.

I think Spurs will be fine at Wembley, far too much negativity of not having a good record there is being made of it. Most of the games have been against top quality opposition, Chelsea four times, Man United in a Final, CL games against Monaco etc. OK losing to Portsmouth in a semi was rubbish, but I would expect Spurs to beat all the cannon fodder at Wembley with a bit to spare, if they play like they did yesterday. Just need to up the tempo of the game slightly against the better teams.

Just for the record Spurs have actually won six cup finals and four league cup finals at Wembley. OK may not be the new Wembley, but Wembley all the same. Not that many teams have won 10 Cup Finals at Wembley.

our recent record at Wembley, considering the quality of football team that we are, is borderline a disgrace, and stinks of lack of mentality from the players / poor tactics from the management.

Good point made

Plan B was the intro of Son
It's one of those days where they came to defend with 5 in the middle and 5 at the back
And win it through a wonderful kick and a cool finish

Kane could've gone down if he was Pedro or Luiz for a certain pen but he was honest

We still look off right now and traditionally slow staters

Could have gone down like Moses

No sorry sandy you can't make a positive out of our Wembley record mate because it's f*** atrocious. Our record especially against Chelsea at the new Wembley is a disgrace. Talking about us winning cups in 1970 means nothing mate. Unless we sort this clear issue out, we are going to struggle this season.

It seems to be a common trend that we start slow in a season and whether we dominate possession or struggle we find it difficult to produce results.

Even last season, we just about got away with it against Palace (1-0 late winner) and were very lucky against Liverpool to get a point.

These games were at WHL so I don't see Wembley as the issue, we are just slow starters even when dominating games. There is just a lack of creativity and I wonder if pre season has something to do with it.

We need to grind out a result against Burnley and wait until after the international break to put our usual slow start behind us.

Good point Hod, last season was similar where we would have slow posession and no cutting edge, then that period in October/November when we couldn’t buy a goal, until something clicked. Let’s hope we click sooner this season!

Lloris reminds me more and more of Casillas each game

Prodigious young goalkeepers, captains of club and country and young ages, quiet leaders, left footed, small frames for goalkeepers. Casillas declined in his early 30s and I'm fearing the same for Lloris. His mistakes in big games have killed us in recent times

Don, I am merely point that the kind of opposition in the main that Spurs have played at Wembley over the past decade have all been pretty useful teams, other than perhaps Portsmouth and Ghent (Genk), but Portsmouth was an age ago, so if you are going to discount Spurs cup wins at Wembley then you may as well discount the losses to United on penalties and Portsmouth, as they were both a decade back.

If Spurs lose to the likes of Bournemouth, Watford, Palace etc then I will get your point. But I guarantee come the end of the season Spurs will have racked up 13 or 14 wins minimum at Wembley, and we will all wonder what all the fuss was about.

I love your optimism Sandy but I also remember you “guaranteed” that Leicester would lose 5 of their last 7 lol.
I seriously doubt we will win 14 at Wembley mate

Sandy, Wumberly is "home" now.
This is the year we're supposed to win the league!
So we're going to have to beat teams like Chelsea and ManU at home.
Given yesterday's performance, we never going to beat ManU anywhere.
