The way Nadal is playing means he will certainly versus a half decent player and has lost the first set v Mayer. He may even lose this match in straight sets.
The Hyde of Mugurza rears its ugly head again.
Sigh.
She really should have bagel led Kvitova that first set and with momentum generated, powered through the second.
Kudos to Kvitova, i like her brand of aggressive tennis. Look forward to her match with Venus.
Kvitova is like a female Nadal.Muguruza should have won the first set.
I thought Nadal match v Dolgopolov was going to be a struggle but Nadal won comfortably and convincingly.
Yep, easy peezy. Lemon squeezy.
Is it just me or is the bounce on Arthur Ashe reminiscent of the red dirt.
I don't think so Red Cognoscente.
Seems like Del Potro and Thiem had match of the tournament
Sloanne Stephens will win US Open if she wins today's match as momentum will be with her and she will be battle hardened.
Watched a bit of the Nadal Rublev match. Rublev should never be getting to the quarter finals at this stage of his career. Too many flaws in his game. I can not believe Dmitrov and Goffin lost to him. Nadal is a legend of course and does what he does, but at least make one set competitive, this is just ridiculous.
Delpo has just beaten Federer in 4 sets
Just True who do you think will win in Nadal v Del Porto semi-final?

if delpo plays like he did tonight, he will win
i just have doubts he will perform like that against nadal
I hope you are right peks but I have got a sneaky feeling that Nadal will lose v Del Potro in 4 or 5 sets in the semi-finals of US Open 2017.
Yes, if Del Porto is on form, he has the perfect game to trouble an aging Nadal especially on hardcourts.
However, he must be mentally and physically exhausted after the last 2 matches, with Nadal being fresh and confident, I have to give Nadal the edge.
I am happy that finally a player saw Fed struggling and just knocked him out. Wish there were more players like Del Porto.

An aging Nadal......just dismantled the next up and comer and is playing some great stuff. FIrst service the key for Nadal against Potro as well as attacking the backhand. Straight sets as Potro has already won his cup final.
He is playing well, not great, got absolutely destroyed in Cinci by Kyrgios and was very shaky in the early rounds even against nobodies, they are all aging (Fed, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray)
I still said Nadal has the edge.
'Straight sets as Potro has already won his cup final.''
Oh, how i love the casual tennis fan.
I suggest you look at the past matches JMDP and Rafa have contested - especially on the hard courts, not to mention JMDP's sole slam was won here where he blew Nadal of the court and then proceeded to beat Federer in the Final.
Sure, Nadal is playing great stuff and he is certainly the favourite but JMDP fit and firing has the game to not just trouble but blow Nadal off court.
But for his unfortunate injuries, i am certainly convinced JMDP would have been a multi-slam winner and his career arc would have been markedly different.
I was about to say exactly that Red about the cup final comment. In 2009, Del Potro beat Nadal 6-2 6-2 6-2 and then beat Federer in the final. So how is winning a quarter final vs Fed a Cup Final for him?
Del Potro was immense, cant believe the crowd behaviour ,applauding a first serve that goes out or into the net, plus there were noises every time he threw the ball up to serve, umpire was useless
some must have lost big money on federer
So a new US Open winner for the Ladies, had a funny feeling at the beginning of the tournament that Stephens and Keys would reach the semis, but didn't expect them to get to the final.
Nadal will lose v Del Potro today.
Say that again.
Final will be a cakewalk for Rafa

nope after winning the first set Delpo gassed completed
easy last 3 sets for nadal
nadal changed tactics in set 2...stopped always looking for delpo's backhand and started moving him all over the court, which took his legs away from him
Yep, Del P was gassed and sadly count maintain his levels after the first set it would have been a gripping match. Fatigue finally caught up with him - which is a shame.
Yeah, Del P's BH is not what it was - four wrist surgeries on same hand will do that to you. However, it was a very obvious tactic from Del P till he changed it.
Final should be easy peasy for Rafa now
I hope so Red Cognescente.
