What those stats don't tell you is that most black deaths are from blacks in organized gangs.
Gem, taking a few million out of circulation will do nothing, as there are over 250 million guns in circulation.
I've lived here for over 17 years and I've never seen a street fight or the use of guns. It's mainly confined to inner areas in large cities.
Plus like cinci has stated, I too feel safer over here where you can leave property unlocked and walk the streets at night without hassle or interference. A lot has to do as with where you chose to live.

Every day I read that someone's been killed with a knife in the UK and once again it's the individual that causes the death, not the weapon itself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just on this, does anyone else in the UK read everyday that someone has been killed by a knife here?
The only time I ever really hear about knife crime here is after the US has had another mass shooting.
I was knifed in the UK, but I have never been shot while in the US.
quod erat demonstrandum
my own experience backs what cinci and wolfie say.
i was in a bar in florida, drunk and stroppy, and barged in to an american knocking his drinks over. in england almost definitely it would have been a scrap. instead the yank couldnt apologise enough to me
we were with a yank ex-soldier who had been stationed in england and knew what it was like, he said you dont get fist fights in america as in england because of guns. in most states they cannot walk around with guns but they can have them on their property - and that includes their cars.
that makes them not want to fall out with each other, too much chance of being blasted in the car park !
Is this a Wolves forum ?
Just curious.......

The thug mentality in the UK makes me sick to be honest and other than the weather is probably the worst thing about the UK these days.
In terms of prohibition, there's probably a good analogy between knife crime here and gun crime in the US. Very little has been done to regulate knife sales here and saying "well how are you going to stop people getting hold of a knife if they want one" is the same as we hear in the US which as Wolfie points out is awash with guns.
Regulation and control has to start somewhere, your gonna p-ss plenty of people off if they want to buy a stanley knife from B&Q to do some decorating and have to produce id, but this is where we are. Gun and ammunition control should be a federal issue in the US. Although Paddock had no criminal record, a system tracking his purchases at licenced gun stores could have flagged up that he was amassing a small arsenal. Much tighter regulation around ownership as well would help track weapons and them changing hands. Expensive and bureaucratic maybe but if it makes it difficult for nut jobs to get hold of weapons thens has to be a good thing.
Instead of regulating guns which would take a generation to take hold, how about regulating ammunition which would have an effect much sooner?
Simply stopping folk buying bulk ammunition would be a good start surely?

Getting to know the dug out fairly well, spending quite some time in it.
You guys must move in very different circles to me. I have never had a knife pulled on me and have never been in a fist fight in this country. I have never really felt unsafe unless walking somewhere out of my comfort zone and the majority of that is in your own head.

Witnessed a few beatings
Witnessed a shooting by two out of towners
My cousin went down for murdering tats cousin..strange that one
Oh and my mum's cousin went in the run with some of John gotti's money
Oh and got banned from the whole of Lichfield but that wasn't my fault
I might not be the best for the stats
Mate had his jaw broken outside the web
My mate glassed someone at planet
And I got a bottle thrown at me in Walkabout
Yeah sounds familiar to me Tino, have seen all sorts of things like that, remember two mates being bottled in a street battle one night, scarred for life, two 'mates' have gone down.
Interesting you have links with Gotti, my family via my brother did for sometime, I personally met nino gaggi's(evil crew boss for Gotti) son.
Yea it's hard to name drop but erm they own an import export business in willenhall

Played cricket with a member of the Fewtrell family. Must have been one of the sons. It was Sunday cricket and I was quite young (only just having started playing men's cricket), so didn't really understand who he was. I only remember people winding each other up about annoying him.
