Years ago, I was here with sizzle, Bb7, hec, insert, Arab, Red and co mostly on my Todd, getting pelters, but am a big boy and took crap, but gave it back.

Then Just Shoot, NPE, Digby came along to balance it.

I do think some dislike more posters from a conservative or populist perspective being here and on social media, so it kicks off.

Both sides are at it, good and bad in both camps goes the cliche, but I do think some regard politics and social media as " theirs" and other opinion lesser or to be cancelled as racist, bigotry or wrong side of history?

I do see it as the right pushing the left out tbab, and it's always the same two at the centre of it..

Everyone can be wrong. Can have good Labour govts and bad ones same with Conservatives.

I think the problem that some of the left suffer from is that they become so sure that they’re right all the time and that those with opposing views are totally unreasonable because if they acknowledge that opposition is reasonable then it naturally leads them to question that perhaps what they think isn’t reasonable and it makes them feel very uncomfortable. Which is why they have to label the opposing arguments as bigoted or racist et cetera.

This happens to lots of people from both political isles of course but I see it much more often from the left. It often is borne out of a perception of morality whereby simply holding the opinions they have and by being on the side of what they term progress, they are themselves moral. And that, those that don’t hold their views are themselves immoral.

I find that the reality is that both left & right (far extremes aside) are both striving for the same thing, the betterment of humanity, they just differ on the best course of action to get there.

I don’t see any major imbalance on here in terms of numbers between left & right leaning, certainly not towards the right.

NPE doesn’t hold back by any stretch of the imagination and JS I don’t think is really being serious with any of his insults, he seems to be here mostly for a bit of a laugh.
I know you like Rosso and I did too for a while but his condescension and aforementioned profound belief that he was right at all times on all matters; never asking other people questions about what they think or believe or why they think it, demonstrates a clear lack of curiosity and willingness to engage sincerely in debate. Insert is a nice enough chap, I enjoyed asking him stuff and him telling me about his journey in life et cetera but he gets too riled up when you disagree with him and all amicable discourse goes out the window immediately and he starts the insults which is why I filtered him.

Overall it happens everywhere and it’s commonly known that these topics will often cause rifts & arguments. I participate in such arguments often but I don’t think you’ll ever see me babble on about the same stuff at a person for weeks and months on end. If you haven’t settled a disagreement within a day or so, you’re not likely to after weeks 😂

Aaah I see what you mean. It was during the aftermath of George Floyd’s death last year. I got into a semi heated debate with Robb on the matter and I think he suggested that we take it here which we did.

He was a very strong supporter of BLM at the time, I’m sure that support lasted just about as much as it’s still in the media now that the election is dealt with 😂 he really was just virtue signalling to follow the crowd and I haven’t said that about anyone on here but he really was. I remember he kept banging on about ‘what we’re about’ page of theirs for us to find out what they actually are driven by and when we quoted parts of it he went quiet and now BLM have of course taken it down also. Peace Prize😂

It’s a bad move (from their perspective & benefit), imo they should be ‘the bigger man’ and just move on and act sensibly and less tribally. It will help them continue to get conservative support. They’ve been banging on about impeaching Trump since January 2017 ffs, time to give it a rest and move on.

Sort out the vaccination roll out, then deal with the economic effects post covid, forget Donald Trump.

Fundamentalism in politics or religion or anything leads to bigotry or intellectual supremacy, as seen by some in remain or Corbyn Labour....protestants here thought we were right, while Cathoics think they are the one true faith and in politics, some think you have to have the exact same economic, climate change, abortion, gender, race, and foreign policy as them or you are a thick racist bigot.

Life and politics are not like that in grown up real world.

Yes I will no doubt be accused of posturing like some vision of rational and balanced thought despite acknowledging that I’ve argued plenty on here and quite regularly.

I agree with you, it is incredibly frustrating to be labelled as such just for having a different point of view. I don’t think anyone on here is dangerous, evil or even ill-intentioned and as such I think it is extremely unfair to be given such labels and it’s going to take an extremely patient person to not respond in kind to such comments.

I do wish we would ask people more what they think and take the answers at face value. I cannot believe how many times I’ve been told by others what I think, even when I’m telling them that it’s not what I think ‘no, no, no it is what you think...it’s what you really think’ etc. I mean that’s just beyond

Asking questions is a sign of strength and intelligence, not weakness.

I’m not wumming, just don’t think Trump was as bad as a lot of people think. Don’t think he was amazing or suitable to be president in the first place either.
