Not a fan of the ‘gender equality’ orders personally. Have no issue with people having equal rights but when that means changing the rest of the populace for a minority the I disagree.

Women’s sports is essentially done if biological trans men are now allowed to compete with women. I can’t think of a single sport where biological men aren’t superior to women.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think most agree with the sport part, not sure if he actually will get it through in his first 100 days though as was thought before
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Time will tell.

What I don’t like most about it and it is a growing concern of mine for both the US & here in the UK is that social media has given a much bigger voice to a tiny minority (I’m not referring to trans people here but activist types from both right and left but it is mostly ‘progressives&rsquo so that these huge social orders are coming in and affecting everyone to appease a very small minority.

We then end up with proper feminists like Germaine Greer getting slimed by progressives, which is just madness and is linked to what I was talking about last night whereby if you don’t agree with what we think then you’re immoral and deserve to be slimed. Again it’s labelling someone as x, y or z offensive label so that when referenced later ‘transphobic Germaine Greer says...’ people write off the opinion as it’s from some transphobic person or racist person or stupid person et cetera.

Same thing happened with the word Islamophobia and did you notice how ‘misinformation’ is regularly replaced with ‘disinformation’ nowadays?

Not the kind of progress I’m a fan of.

Why should government foot the bill for unsuitable cladding, or In other words the taxpayer, the contractors who fitted the stuff should be held to account, or do they walk away blameless.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s complicated. If contractors fulfilled their obligations at the time and complied with regulations then why should they have to pay to update them to 2021 standards? It’s a tough one because not one party is particularly at fault (deliberate negligent instances aside) so yeah Joe public pays for it unfortunately. Can’t let more people burn although that fire chief certainly didn’t help matters.

If you create the thread, you've got to police it, I'm sure the OP of the original one hadn't realised the beast of the one he created but it appears he cleared of after a time, so it appears there was little censor from what I observed.

This new one just seems to be regurgitating same old same old.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What does policing entail? Is it deleting comments? Well there's already a complaint feature and a bunch of site rules, and admins already have a process for dealing with this.

I don't want to do it as a) it's incredibly difficult to be fair about it b) people will whine about censorship if you delete their comments
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the prediciment you are in, you have to ask yourself can you be balanced, have you posters who you favour more than others over a period of time being on JA.

Yellow card, red card system or 3 strikes and you are out, who knows.

It's a very interesting thread and even though I've only posted sporadically over the years I've enjoyed reading it from afar.

One like this one deserves its place in this day and age.

PM: "It is absolutely essential that there should be untrammelled free trade...between all parts of the UK including...invoking Article 16 of the protocol if that is necessary."

Christ, politics really is a cesspit in this country isn’t it? The same government and PM crying over the EU threatening to do the same thing are now doing the threat themselves.

And the dopey Brexiteers slating the EU for it would now be cheering this nonce on.

I need to replace my garage roof it's asbestos sheet, it was legal when it was built but not now, don't think I have a chance that government will meet the cost somehow.

This is also why it’s complicated and took so long. There are huge potential ramifications for both the public and private sector.

Insert, instead of telling people what is and isn't acceptable, just make your own thread. If it's interesting enough people will contribute... plus you can block me. 👍

Greetings comrade.

We should each do our own threads.

I bet I fall out with myself and fight with my shadow, while drinking in My shed.....then blame Corbyn and the ra when wife sees state of garden.

Good call, bud.

Read it would be referred to as human milk, rather than breast milk too....kinda insulting to women and mum's?

Never thought one day I would be a radical feminist.

Breast milk is a lot more precise, human milk can mean different things to different people

Afternoon all.

No chance of a16 being invoked whatsoever. Think the EU have learnt their lesson, and assuming the cabinet have read it will be fully aware of the consequences of doing so.

Haven't seen PMQs but both Frost and Gove's letters to the Commission earlier this week suggests they have no intention of invoking a16.
