Rosso not liking Baker makes me like him even more, definitely knows his stuff if Rosso doesn’t like him
Anti green
Anti stupid restrictions
Anti lockdowns
Anti climate change
Essentially anti BS

If anti BS is short for anti Buttoned-down Science, then yes, he’s certainly that.

EXCLUSIVE:
Labour leader Sir @Keir_Starmer has told City A.M. that the UK can have a better economic future outside the EU than inside if the government slashes post-#Brexit red tape and diverges from Brussels’ regulations.
https://t.co/ycR5YEleAX
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t understand this move, at all.
1. He’s wrong in terms of the economic argument, and he probably knows it; so not only is it a shiiiit policy for the country, he’s damaging his own credibility.
2. It sounds like another Labour shift to the right economically, which is going to pess off even some Eurosceptic grassroots campaigners as well as many left wing voters.
3. It’s gonna split the party further along Brexit lines.
4. It’s gonna drive a shiiiitload of centrist Europhile voters straight to the Lib Dems.
Looks like ridiculous positioning to me for a whole bunch of reasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he knows if he talks about wanting to rejoin then the next election could end up a repeat of 2019 where people vote purely based on brexit, and he wants to avoid that.
It's still a divisive topic and if we ever are going to rejoin it'll probably be another 5-10 years before it can realistically be brought up.
At least that's my hope anyway.

Yeah, he is looking to avoid a very easy conservative attack line.
A lot of voters don't regard Brexit as being over, so he cannot align himself to Brexit-scepticism, as it risks another repeat of 2019.
He also needs to seem optimistic on Britain's future, as much of Corbyn's campaigning surrounded how miserable British life.

Hard to see red wall voters going for Sunak or Truss, and as Penny is regarded as liberal conservative, compared to Kemi or Truss, Mordaunt could perhaps sail through the centre, picking up votes from left and right in the party, who seek change from boris-Sunak and indeed Truss.

Yep; I think you’re bang on here, tbab. I think they’ll pick Mordaunt for this very reason.
This is an example of what the Tories are (generally) exceptionally good at when compared to Labour: they understand the critical importance of branding, image, marketing, and media, and when CCHQ has control of these things, they do them well.
Labour, on the other hand, blunders about shooting itself in the feet incessantly, Starmer’s latest Brexit repositioning I think being the latest example.

Fair analysis Rosso.
The brexit right will unite around Truss and move to Truss from Kemi in coming days, even though Truss was remainer originally🤨, and weirdly, Truss has big hitters backing, while Penny only has David Davis, but still Mordaunt seems to have momentum and membership support.
I have heard Tories day of Sunak wins, they will switch to or go back to Labour.

And although Labour are often split, Tories are going blue on blue right now and have more schisms than Protestant church sects lol.

Labour leader Sir @Keir_Starmer has told City A.M. that the UK can have a better economic future outside the EU than inside if the government slashes post-#Brexit red tape and diverges from Brussels’ regulations.

I think he knows if he talks about wanting to rejoin then the next election could end up a repeat of 2019 where people vote purely based on brexit, and he wants to avoid that.

They’re Kemi ideologically, for sure.
But they know she’s even more unelectable - by both the party membership and the electorate - than Truss.
Baker and his mob talk the talk, but they’re a pretty savvy bunch. If it’s a choice between putting Kemi up against Mordaunt/Rishi or Truss, they’ll go for the candidate they think has a chance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair analysis Rosso.
Wonder where Tugendhat votes will go as he is gone next surely with only 30 odd MPs?Possibly to Penny who is also seen as on the so called liberal left of the Tory party?

Penny Mordaunt leads head-to-head against Rishi Sunak & Liz Truss, both among those who voted Conservative in 2019…
45% to 32% vs Sunak
33% to 30% vs Truss
…and among the public
39% to 32% vs Sunak
27% to 26% vs Truss
Sunak leads 48% to 40% vs Truss among 2019 Con voters. https://t.co/75NlwW7unZ
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard to see red wall voters going for Sunak or Truss, and as Penny is regarded as liberal conservative, compared to Kemi or Truss, Mordaunt could perhaps sail through the centre, picking up votes from left and right in the party, who seek change from boris-Sunak and indeed Truss.
If Tories want to take on Starmer Labour, Sunak or Truss are not going to cut it, but Penny ❤️ may do, as seen before in the House.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep; I think you’re bang on here, tbab.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
👍
Glad we concur on stuff, bud😉
Fwiw, I think whoever wins Tory race will lose to Starmer Labour at the GE....in spite of or despite Starmer and labour splits and failings.
And although Labour are often split, Tories are going blue on blue right now and have more schisms than Protestant church sects lol.
Loyalty to the Tory party is a big thing and they are ruthless and PR savvy, but Tories are now all over the shop with various wings, lobby groups and personalities.

I was wrong mate, when I thought Braverman backers would back Kemi more than Truss, but still reckon Penny will edge it.

Tom's vote should go to Penny as they are on the same wavelengths but wouldn't surprise me if he goes Rishi
