I imagine the coalitions response to China taking Taiwan would be the same as their response to Russia trying to take Ukraine. Minimal.

This seems to be the general consensus.

I doubt to the levels of Russia let alone America.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I may be misunderstanding your point, but China left Russia behind long ago.

China has built up the army but lacks operational skills. Historically China rarely gets involved in wars.

And honestly, it is a bit pointless to discuss wars between nuclear powers. There really are no positive outcomes, and I am sure leaderships know that despite think tanks constantly justifying their existence, gaming it constantly.

How many countries has China invaded post Mao? They had a war with India over Tibet which they stopped with a ceasefire and withdrawal to pre-war positions. China historically likes to spread Maoism through deals rather than wars despite the threat to invade Taiwan for years!

And to your point, did China invade Taiwan when America was far more involved in Iraq and Afghanistan?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They've occupied Tibet for nearly 70 years.

Your entire question is nonsense. America has a very powerful army, more than capable of holding multiple theatres. Did China attack when America's attention was diverted in Iraq? Where they actually had troops on the ground?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not sure asking whether the current landscape means China are going to be more emboldened is nonsense at all, and if it is, you’d better tell the rest of the world because that very question is being discussed at length in multiple countries at this very moment.

Look it’s fine you can’t answer. Have a good one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you think anti-China's Trump response would be if they were to do it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dude, it’s fine.

It’s being discussed at length online by the likes of National Defense University distinguished adjunct lecturer Holmes Liao (who doesn’t think it’s nonsense).

I’ll read that instead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ofcourse he doesn't otherwise how will get invited to the next symposium.

Indeed and could have occupied large swathes of India at the time if they wished!

I think China are a very different proposition now than even 20 years ago. What China have become is actually quite impressive over the last 50 years and they have been playing the long game through that time.

Most of the Russian fleet is antiques from the Soviet era.
Much like their ICBMs. Their biggest threat is their attack submarines. 1 carrier. India has 2.

China, China. I worry more about Modi's India. He's been accused by Canadian Intelligence (not an oxymoron)of election interference, interfering in the Conservatives' last leadership and oh using a criminal gang to murder Canadian Sikhs. Jagmeet Singh was a target and had 24 hour security for last year+. His wife delivered their child with armed guards in the room. I do not trust religio-nationalists of any kind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

India are an interesting one these days. The strides they have made globally in recent times is also pretty impressive

Takes nukes out of the equation and Russia are pathetic. Could you imagine China taking years to gain next to no ground in Ukraine? Me neither.

Its why I'm always surprised to see so many Chinese in casinos. I thought they hated Tibet.

Cinci, would you want to be anywhere near one of their 50+ year old silos if they ever decide to launch?
Rusty old 1960s computers.

In Arizona we have some of the old Titan missile launch sites set up during the cold war, kinda fun to visit and obviously very 1950-60s. I imagine Russias 'active' sites are of a considerably poorer standard.

I worked doing repairs to a few Russian merchant ships in the 70s and 80s. Fvkin workmanship was laughable. Welds that leaked. I can't imagine workers in Soviet shipyards had much incentive to take any pride in their work.

Fox 4 News reporting that a UPS truck ran out of control on a state highway in Texas and smashed into trees at the side of the road after the driver passed out in 102F heat.

Just a reminder that Texas recently passed legislation which prevents localities from mandating heat related protections, like water breaks…

Nobody is stopped from having a drink ffs

I know a handful of UPS and Fedex guys here and it is a miserable job in the summer as they can't blast the AC if they even have it as they spend the day driving around with the side doors open. They are free to hydrate, cool down in whatever ways they want though.

Texas passed a fvkin law last year banning municipalities and counties from making water breaks mandatory. So your experience in Arizona isn't really relevant.
