I guess it's just a bit like being adopted.
Ukraine is adopted. That's OK.

Reminds me of the line Vesper Lynd delivered:

Tbf Ukraine is an internationally recognised sovereign state, whereas Palestine isn’t.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part of the problem is nobody did recognise it, after WW1.

It wasn't included in the Treaty of Versailles, because the seperatists went into alliance with the Germans, so the allies didn't want anything to do with them. They might also have thought that they'd struggle to defend it I suppose.

Russia had given up its claims to the region in its own 1918 treaty with Germany, in which the Red Army basically surrended so that it could keep fighting the Russian Civil War in the East.

But that Treaty was annulled at Versailles, so in the absence of anybody recognising the Ukrainian state, it was left as returning to being de facto Russian territory.

It’s 2025, mate.

Yes but I do things in phases.
And none of my opinions are particularly appealing anyway tbh.
Except for on films. I'm good on films.

Big day today in Alaska, hope for the best fear for the worst.
Bizarre for there to be "peace" talks with the aggressor and a 3rd country but no place for the brave defenders or the EU.
The imperialist Putin needs his legacy and in Trump he has someone he can manipulate and Trump is desperate for the Nobel peace prize.

Trump says there's a 25% chance of failure.

Didn't he claim he would end the war 'in a few days' before the US elections?

The issues in this war are:

1. Ukraine's right to self determination was recognised and respected, but eastern Ukraine's right to self determination was not.
2. The territorial expansion of NATO. Although I need to think about this further, in order to identify the exact nature of the problem.
3. The disregard for and disrespect of human life.
4. Media manipulation.
5. The power of the weapons lobby.
6. A lack of objectivity and taking into account of alternative positions, and relying instead on force or the ability to deliver force.

posted on 15/8/25

The main issue in the war is the forced annexation of Ukraine by Russia. That is in no way comparable to sovereign states entering into political agreements with other sovereign states.

2. Putin

4. Putin
5. Putin bum sniffers.

Putin gets the legacy he wants, Taiwan is next.
Rewarding imperialism isn't a deterrent.

I was trying to think what the alternative to nationalism was, and I came up with anarchy.

Because if you don't have countries, then you have 1 country.

Then the 1 country needs a government.

Yeah, not sure how I came to anarchy tbh.

On with my research...

I just thought that nationalism is an ideology and anarchism is a system of governance. Happy to hold my hands up if I'm wrong.
