My first impressions would be to having Geoffrey Boycott opening, with ‘Deadly’ Derek Underwood (SLA) and Dennis Lillee at the bottom end of the order. I’d have to thoroughly research this though, and that would take a considerable amount of time.
Based an averages alone only 3 England players make the list.

Jack Hobbs
Len Hutton
Don Bradman
Ken Barrington
Wally Hammond
Keith Miller
Adam Gilchrist
Shane Warne
Sydney Barnes
Dennis Lillee
Glenn Mcgrath
My team would be:
Herbert Sutcliffe
Len Hutton
Donald Bradman
Allan Border
Ricky Ponting
Ian Botham
Adam Gilchrist (wk)
Shane Warne
Fred Trueman
Dennis Lillee
Glenn McGrath
But to be fair, I haven't seen a number of the old players play, so I could be way off.
If there were no all-rounder, I would have Steve Waugh at number 6, but I prefer a genuine all-rounder.
What about Graeme Thorpe?Shouldn't he be part of starting XI with Andrew Flintoff and Micheal Hussey getting honourable mentions.

Anyone who agrees with me?
So Phenom Andrew Flintoff,Micheal Hussey and Graeme Thorpe should not be included but Kevin Pietersen is worth of inclusion?
I'd take Pietersen before Thorpe and Hussey, even though I admired and rated both as fine players.
Flintoff is battling with a batting number six, Botham and Miller, so will find it hard to get into this team.
What about Andy Bichel and David Boon U19770.
Andy Bichel? Are you a wind up?
Not on a windup U19770.Andy was a decent player and he could be part of a joint Australia and England limited overs lineup as he was great in a short period of time for Australia. As for one player many people have excluded but should have included is Micheal Hussey who was superb for Australia in ODIs,Tests and T20s.
Jimmy Anderson deserves a mention even if he doesn't make the 11
If I was to pick my own personal one it would be the one from the modern era so mid 1990s onwards as I won't know many players that played in the 60's 70's and only know a few from the 80's.

Andy was a decent player, but me thinks you're going to have to be at least very good to get near this team.

i don't think Pietersen, Thorpe and Hussey should be. Flintoff maybe worth a mention because of 2005 but is between Miller and Botham for no6
if we are doing modern era then it's a different story obviously, but 'all time' is the agenda no?
U17990 now you can admit that I was not WUMing!

By naming Bichel as a contender for an all time Ashes XI , it certainly seemed like it.
Surely Beefy Botham at number 6, he loved nothing more than Aussie bashing (as well as being the team`s social secretary)
Isn't there a theory that when Botham did so well against the Aussies it was more or less the Aussies reserves and youth as most of the main players were playing in the Kerry Packer World Series.
