good chance they had a run time to stick to for whatever reason and he went a good bit overboard with it.

its quite funny that rebel moon is better than the SW sequels
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rebel Moon is still crap though. No Rey at least which is a bonus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't forget there's a much longer Snyder Cut of Rebel Moon too. That's sure to get the cultist haters irate
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I love how he described it

"Way more brutal. More bizarre. Verhoeven-esque. More RoboCop than you know... in the way that it uses violence as another character. And there's a lot of secks in it, and sci-fi fantasy."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he should venture into series...but get a team of good writers behind him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And then he can bang on about how he’s had to put the rest of the cut into season 2 because the network wouldn’t let him put it in season 1.

i want to know what netflix thinks, were they expecting a pg13 film then hes just gone and ignored that and made an r rated that theyve been forced to cut down
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's just money at the end of the day. Netflix know more people can watch it if it's not R rated, it has 34 million views so far I read.

Although presumably it would be like making Dredd a PG-13 based on how Snyder's described the three and a half hour cut.

More entertainment watching Ayer go in on WB on twitter lol
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I so want to see the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. Totally convinced it's a totally different movie to what WB decided to release in cinemas.

I doubt they ever release it though as if it's good then it just makes Warner look even more incompetent that they had to cut the original movie to pieces so that it was funnier and more like Marvel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Me too fam. I'd actually pay to see the Ayer Cut.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I'd pay top dollar to see it, as would a lot of people I suspect. I doubt James Gunn would allow it to be released either as it's probably better than his comedy Suicide Squad movie. He's probably seen it already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Doubt it.

Gunn's movie was good.

Ayer has made maybe two decent films in his whole career - odds are Suicide Squad was a dirge.

Netflix pandering to the PG-13 brigade by releasing the vanilla version first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Snyder needs to learn how to make a coherent three-act two hour movie, and stop blaming studios constantly.

Especially when ZSJL wasn't even that good, and no studio on earth would have released it as a 4hr cut.

I'm not a huge Ayer fan but he's done some very good movies like Training Day, End of Watch and Fury.

A post yesterday from David Ayer on X talking about his Suicide Squad movie:

"It’s not a matter of a new scene or two. I honestly cannot think of director cut / studio cut with more difference between them. A lot of the popular issues with SS16 are endemic to the studio version. I made a drama not a clown show. I made a great movie 🫡".

Sounds like a completely different movie, especially if he's describing as a drama.

I think it was part of the chat on there last night, where he was talking about some differences between his version and the theatrical cut (Diablo not dying, using the original score, etc)

Ayer goes on to say, "Dude my VFX got wrecked. Omigod. Enchantress and Incubus got done dirty. That part was especially mind blowing. 🤦. Bro. Why ? Just why ?"

Yeah according to Ayer - Diablo doesn't die, Joker has an actual story arc and is scarier, there's a different ending, Rick Flagg has a proper journey and that all the characters arcs make sense etc.

I still don't think it gets released anytime soon after how well ZSJL was generally received. It doesn't put Warner in a good light if they release a vastly improved SS movie as well. More so with SS as I don't think that Ayer's version is especially long so could easily have been released in theatres without any cuts needed.

No surprise I guess. Disney firmly in the mud.

I enjoyed Gunn's SS movie and I thought Ayer's release was underwhelming, despite having some interesting moments. I disliked Leto as the Joker and aside from Viola Davis and Margot Robbie, the rest of the characters were forgetable.

Unless Ayer's cut is a completely different movie with different portrayals of the characters, I'd rather not see it.

pretty much my thoughts also although I disliked Ayers release more than just underwhelming. i thought it was awful, unless the directors cut replaces Delvigne (I thought she was so out of place, poorly cast and very poorly acted) then I can imagine it becoming elevated to underwhelming levels !
