I'm just not someone who can work for other people or big corps or organisations. I've done it in the past in IT for the likes of NHS and Ernst & Young as a couple of examples and I hated it. The bushit politics of it. Some people love it and thrive and do well and that's great, but it's not for me. I'd rather be a bit skint personally and work for myself. Left it to try and work for myself. Going into dropshiping and property development long term. But property right not is non existent, due to Brexit and not many coming on the market. I don't have the cash for the property, but my parents and myself have been planning that for a few years. Dropshiping on my own in the short term. Look it up on youtube.

What sort of goods are you going to ship drop?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Initially Jewelry Accessories mainly to females. Also Kitchen stuff such as mugs, then I'm gonna expand on that with other products. Been doing research on this for the past 3 or 4 months. Will start that business next month.
Later on I want to get Chinese suppliers to make stuff for me personally and use fulfilled by Amazon. But that will be down the line a bit.

I've already opened a Ltd company with my folks for property development. But that's separate. They have the cash for that and I had the knowledge of the business side of things. My Mum is great at doing houses up and made her cash in that in life, but we've not seen any suitable property to invest in so far, but in the meantime I want to make some cash for myself.

But as I said right now, I'm broke and live in a shieytehole area, junkies everywhere and trouble, hopefully things will work out. I'm sure they will long term. I am confident of it. You have to sacrifice short term for long term gain right?

I should also say dropshiping is nothing to do with my parents. I'm using my own money. I don't want them to have anything to do with that. I wouldn't want to ask them for money for it. It will have more satisfaction doing that on my own.

Just saw this thread was still going and caught the last few comments.

Best of luck Castle

Me and my wife have started our own business with zero budget. Tough going working during the day and coming home to do more again but has to be done.

Had to cancel loads of social activities to concentrate on the business and work like f@ck.

One of the things we’re doing is merchandising and could be looking for contacts.

Don’t suppose this could be of interest?

posted on 3/5/18

If you mean you are looking for contacts to make stuff for you then contact Chinese suppliers directly through https://www.alibaba.com/ (mass produced suppliers)
https://www.aliexpress.com/

Contact them directly, but my advice would be to only use the ones who have sold a lot of similar products to what you are wanting and ones with lots of positive reviews. Both sites say how many were sold and how many reviews. Contact them directly and tell them what you are after. If it's a unique product you are making or have created then use 'fulfilled by amazon'. Google it. That way the amazon warehouses will get the shipment direct from china and they will handle all the delivery aspect of it for a cut of it of course. But saves you having a warehouse or your house full of merchandise and you then having to ship it yourselves. I'm guessing that's what you meant with looking for contacts. Hope that helped if not let me know. Good luck with that as well.

So to be clear, as I don't think I made it clear. Contact the chinese manufacturers who make similar to what you want directly, using those websites I listed.
Then tell them what you want them to make, send them designs etc. They will then make it and ship them to an Amazon warehouse. You need an amazon store account prior. Amazon then handle all the delivery etc.

I would be very, very wary of dealing with the Chinese on a business level; especially if your business has any emphasis on quality

They are also one of the most unethical countries I have ever had to deal with.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree Curly we spoke about this before a few months ago re the sale of Morelos.

That's why I said use the manufacturers who have lots of sales and good reviews. Some of them have them in the thousands.

Just about everything is made in China, lots of it good, lots of it bad, but as Curly says lots of dodgy companies out there and their view of doing business isn't the same as ours. Start by ordering a small amount as a tester and check quality etc yourself.

Just a side point but as a customer I'm generally much more inclined to buy off fulfilled by Amazon, firstly because I don't need to do those a-z claims with the individual merchants and can deal with Amazon customer service if something goes wrong but mainly because I can get the prime delivery.

For sure Miller, I have Prime as well. It's worth as someone who owns a business to pay for 'fulfilled by amazon' because how much does it cost to rent a warehouse yourself, employ people to work in it and to pay for people to ship it for you. It's either than and have a shipment of goods sent to your house or flat and you and your partner send it yourself. Fluuuck that shiiit. Far too much hassle, with fulfilled by amazon you can run a manufacturing business from a laptop anywhere in the world.

Prime in my opinion is definitely worthwhile. If you order even a couple things a month it basically pays itself.

Fulfilled by Amazon is in simple terms third party sellers who keep their stock in amazon warehouses so it gets dealt with by Amazon staff from placing of order to delivery and afterwards. You don't need to worry about the seller being dodgy as you just take any issues to Amazon customer service itself. The only issue is if something arrives broken they can't replace it. You can be refunded but will need to order again. But a small problem most of the time.

Curly I will explain it for you. Fulfilled by amazon is for business people. It means if I buy 2000 t-shirts from china rather than getting them delivered to my house and selling them. They get delivered directly to Amazons main warehouse for a cut. It means if I run a business, I don't have to rent a warehouse, rent people and ship it myself. The delivery will be handled like an amazon product and will have the benefits of amazon prime next day delivery etc.

Cheers Miller, and what do you mean by A-Z claims?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's what you need to do with individual sellers on amazon that dispatch the stuff themselves if something goes wrong. It's a claim form where if say you ordered something and it didn't arrive, or was fake or not the right item and the seller won't or can't fix it.
