I think the reduction in fee is due to the fact that transfer deadline day bid fees are almost always inflated.

Can't quibble much over Ken's latest message.

SWIE it's down to magennis making it clear he didn't want to stay and the club not wanting to lose him for nothing next summer. What also helped is that we were in the end the sole contenders for his signature and unlike Charlie Wyke the field STAYED clear even when ours was 'accidentally' leaked by someone at Bradford. Given the circumstances it seems the Bradford board felt there was no choice but to take what cash they could. Personally I think this is a very good deal for us. Magennis won't stun the world but he'll be competitive at Championship level especially if we can bring in another striker to play off him.

Congratulations to that remarkable publication. The real Beano is 80 years old today while in Bolton folk still have to make do with a much inferior imposter.

Over the weekend the bat phone rang so I had to fly now I'm recovering I read the local comic to find we won and we are supposed to be signing more players to reduce the situations vacant and provide sufficient numbers to fill the naughty corner and sick bay. Should I abstain from the first big match just to see if it was me or is the slate wiped clean after pre season.

Always pay a premium price on deadline day. Only way we got £6 for madine. Wouldn't have got half that if at all if we hung on to this summer and he would have been on a more expensive contract. Gamble by ken which nearly didn't pay off.

Talking of classic comics did I say the real Beano is 80 today.
Has anybody got a copy of the local comic where PP said a goal feast was just around the corner I was wandering with all these strikers on the wanted list if the local comic will be asking when we may finally expect that goal feast some sort of indication will do or should we wait until it's time to write to Father Christmas and ask him to deliver one.

Yes, it makes sense regarding Magennis. At 40% of the original price, It's still a bonus. PP still looking for another striker so hopefully, there will still be a few bob in the petty cash tin.

Has it gone quiet on the Wyke front or have I missed something? I recall a report saying it had been called off due to his injury but I put that down to fake news. If he'd broken a leg I could understand it but we were led to believe it was a minor injury.

Ken's lad has done his usual emoji transfer deal thing again.

Possibly Jack Hobbs though could also be something left field.

Everton are pretty much signing a left back today or tomorrow - expect Robinson to be farmed out soon after.

Looking good for a full house then we can get all of them together for a quick pre season tour around the whatsit called stadium.

posted on 30/7/18

Yes, has Ken actually signed a deal for the naming rights of the stadium? It seems a long time in coming. Maybe Daren will be doing the signwriting whilst the team is away on Saturday.

Hobbs on a free and Magennis for the first cash transfer in over 3 years confirmed.

2 down - 5 to go.

posted on 30/7/18

Does that mean we'll be able to have a go on the guess the sub goal keeper game soon?

posted on 30/7/18

Back up keeper and first choice left back next. Central midfield looks undermanned so at least 2 needed there and a striker. Updated the list at top of the thread as far as possible but had no official notice of Jake turner or Alex Perry leaving so left them off for now.

Kenneth has spoken Wed is naming day but we all knew the name anyway from much earlier on in this thread..

If you can't remember all of the 514 comments prior to this one you'll have to go right back to the beginning and refresh your memory.

My money is on macron renewal.

Very good Benny now can you tell us where Ken got this fixation with six figure sums from ? he quoted it a lot when buying a player and when telling us how much each party owes each other during the Hotel Corral show down. Is it just co incidence that Lee's pocket money and Pat's housekeeping money add up to a six figure sum.

Well, two more enter the arena. Of course, I welcome them both and hope that they will be real assets to the team.

Just looking at this little piece from the Beano, I wonder how JACK Hobbs will fare after his back problems.

Jack Hobbs says he is physically ready to start the season and resume his career at Wanderers.

The former Nottingham Forest defender has played just 15 times in the last two years because of a persistent back injury.

Being someone who has suffered from Sciatica over many years, I know that having a back problem is something that can flare up without warning and just making an everyday movement can activate it. I sincerely hope that he isn't going to be on the treatment table on a regular basis rather than doing what he gets paid for.

Steven Ireland will be along shortly just in case Hobbs doesn't end up hobbling we can't have that new sick bay extension and the M Davies suite laying empty can we.

Swie like yourself I have had back trouble loosing 3 discs, I hope he’s on a pay as you play deal.
I can’t see Ken having it any other way.!!

posted on 31/7/18

Pasty your right, someone has to fill that vacant spot otherwise why are we paying the Physios.

Golden, I'm not so confident that he will be on a pay for play, otherwise I think it may have been mentioned. However, I do hope that you are right.

Don't forget tonight's the night 20.50hrs by your GMT.
Mars will be visiting us closer a mere 35.7 million of your miles and looking larger than for a long time until the next time in the year 2035.
Following the fly past strange things are predicted to start happening Prof P just laughed and said "football will only ever be played one way" perhaps in 4 days time the effects will really be known if we return from WBA with 3 points in the bag.

Nicky Hunt edging his way back up North as he signs a one year deal with Crewe.

Nicky Hunt! I thought he'd retired. How old is he?

Pasty, I'm not into astronomy but here on the Costa Blanca, where I suspect is where you might be. There are two planets in the sky which are very bright. One is around SSE and the other is situated about due West. The question is, which ones are they. I'm sure a man of your superior knowledge will be able to tell me.

Sorry swie being on a different continent thousands of miles away from where you are it's a bit difficult but later Mars should be the orangey red one nice and bright bigger than normal just look towards Lebanon from where you are you'll not miss it. By the way I only gaze at the stars with the naked eye and some high tech gizmo's in Chile or whizzing around up there in the night sky.
I've turned Hubble around to take a few holiday snaps of the red planet tonight they'll be out just as soon as I get to a super snaps when I pop back to blighty.
