Xherdan Shaqiri

Is he a back up to Salah and Mane or a replacement for Ox? Does this mean we are not going back for Fekir?

I think Ox can play that role better. He can play on the wing or as No.10. He's obviously injured at the moment but I'm worried we are not buying a new keeper and not buying a proper backup striker and expecting Klopp to say he's finished his shopping once Shaqiri deal is done.

*replacement for Coutinho

Fekir was meant to be Coutinho replacement. Shaqiri is a Salah/Mane backup and when Ings leaves that has covered that slot.

Got a feeling the Fekir transfer sage may resume after the final. We have not been reliably linked with anyone else so its either him or no one.

Robbing said that he wasn’t a fan of Salah before he joined as well and look how that’s turned out.

I think there is better options out there but if Klopp wants him that’s fine with me. Cheap at £13m too.

Also sounds like klopp wants to bring Brewster into the first team next season as he supposedly rates him quite highly. Wouldn't be surprised if our back up strikers next season are Origi/Solanke with the other one being sold/loaned and Brewster.

We were interested in Shaqiri at the same time as we were almost wrapping up the deal for Fekir. I'm pretty sure we would still be after Shaqiri regardless of how the Fekir saga turned out.

it does not carry no risk.

the op should be rewritten to "it carries little financial risk"

the little so and so could be hugely disruptive to the dressing room spirit and ethos for all we know. that is the risk.

its just bargain bucket stuff.

1 in 5 strike rate and can pick a pass. Top class delivery and a long shot option. He could fit that Cout role well but I can think of a few players who could do it better. He can play on the wing and manipulate a ball but....

The price means little to me. Now if we're looking at him anyway then great but it seems we're signing him because of his price.

I wonder with all the competition there is for his signature if we'll even get it over the line. Can we beat the likes of Spurs, City, Utd and Chelsea and get him to join us? That before the likes of Juve, Atletico, Dortmund and Roma come in for him.

His agent has spoken to other clubs but his number one preference has been us.

Of course.

Tbf he wouldn't have to move house and all that jazz. Plus we pay great wages.

I was about to write that given his unimpressive stints at Bayern and Inter, it would be a surprise if Dortmund, Juve or Roma came in for him.

But he's not exactly ripped it up for Stoke and we're interested so that line of logic is on the floor!

Explain why he could be hugely disruptive. Based on what.

It's a myth for any foreign player. People still can't get over Diouf.

The question should really be why didn't City go for Shaqiri instead.

Why did City go for Mendy when they could have got Robertson
