I think we will come third as we are better than we were last year and I don't think we have as many different hindering factors as last season (horrendous injury issues & playing at Wembley). I think unless we spent stupid money we won't be winning the league this year and Poch doesn't have the tactical nous for the CL. So FA cup/league cup it is - and I think we just need a little bit more luck to win these competitions that is all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've said on other threads that Chelsea and Arsenal being in Europa might stand in their way of top 4, compared to us. That's what I'm relying most on right now to help us get into the top 4. I think the other top 6 teams will finish above us.
I think Aurier/Trippier/Sanchez/Dele/Winks(if fit)/Dier/Son/Lamela will definitely improve from last season. With hopefully Lamela/Toby/Rose/Wanyama/Winks being available (remember Wembley caused a lot of injuries).
Only Dembele regressing and Moura coming in who looks to be very good. Plus we are actually playing at home and probably won't be as burnt out from the CL group of death. I think we will be better than we were.
With Son out for the Asia tournament and Lamela being more available than last season, I don't know if Son will have a better season.
Lamela I've been waiting to see any real improvement from since he arrived. I don't think he's going to improve that much.
Aurier and Trippier will be vying for the same position and realistically one needs to get a run of games to show consistent improvement, so I'm not sure how likely it is both are going to improve.
I'd like to think Alli can regain the form of a couple of seasons ago but he may be playing deeper than he was and his best quality for getting in positions to score might be stunted.
Injuries or lack of them could play a big part. We could end up with worse injuries than last season, and if it's to our key players then it's difficult to imagine we're going to fare any better without the adequate cover.
With Lamela I meant improvement as in compared to last season. If he matches performances from his 15/16 season then he will certainly be an improvement.
What about the other teams who will have other players that will also improve? They have players coming in and also existing players that will improve.
Its tough to know, I think Arsenal, Chelsea and City will slightly improve. Liverpool could go either way, Utd will probably get worse.

We don't need a statement. Its obvious what the situation is.....
Regardless of the available funds, we will not pay stupid prices for players, like £70m on a goalkeeperor £40m on a Championship player with potential. Other players were just not for sale, like Sessegnon and Martial.
Spurs are operating at the upper end of the transfer market.....its easier for the likes of Everton or West Ham to pick up players but few of their many signings would be good enough for us.
We can't just buy players to cover players tired from the WC, especially when average players are costing £30m upwards.
I am disappointed. I felt like we needed a statement of intent but what has occurred is the opposite. Regardless of how strong our squad is it puts a downer on us. But looking at it realistically, we have kept the squad together, we have Lucas to step up, Lamela and Winks to make more of an impact after a lot of injury so i do feel like we are stronger than last season, albeit only marginally and subject to injuries.
Expect us to post massive profits for last season after UCL money and Wembely money and no transfers
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This idea that every single player is overpriced and that clubs at our level can’t sign players is fantasy.
Dortmund can sign good players
Atletico can sign good players
Napoli can sign good players
They didn’t pay over the odds for all their signings, and they’ve signed players better than some of the dross we still have in our squad. So please stop pushing this convenient myth as a valid excuse for spurs clearly not making a concerted effort to scout and sign players. If anyone is trying to tell me Grealish is the only midfielder in Europe the club identified they thought could improve us, then the scouts need the sack and you need to get real.

Apparently only our players improve while nobody else’s do. At least that’s what some fans want us to believe anyway....
Atletico & Dortmund are both bigger teams who can get more revenue at the gates that we do. They also have larger wage bills & aren't teams struggling with a home grown issue at the moment.
All three also have a model where they sell and reinvest as well. If we aren't selling we can't exactly reinvest.
Our revenue was higher than both clubs in 16/17 despite having a smaller stadium. Stands to reason our revenue will be even higher with Wembley gate receipts
https://www2.deloitte.com/uk/en/pages/press-releases/articles/deloitte-football-money-league-2018.html
Probably not significantly enough for us to break free in terms of offsetting stadium costs. I would also assume its more expensive to run and operate a club in London than either of the other two - do you have a table showing profit?
So Edin, you are now implying the issue is about money. Which goes against what the club told fans just before asking them to buy season tickets.
I think the season ticket money is meant to kick in next season though?
I mean, the games haven't even been played yet...
So we didn't buy players due to money?
and I have no idea why season ticket money would kick in next season? No idea why as I parted with my cash in May.
I don't know but I don't think the majority of revenue is ST though? It's matchday expenditure & gameday tickets bought & hospitality boxes bought?

I think we struggled to sign players due to our wage bill partly.
Hypothetically if last season we were near the maximum of our wage bill, then with Janssen & Nkoudou coming back - 6/7 of our players getting large pay rises (Kane gone from 100k to 200k) - Moura joining the team. Maybe it is a little saturated and we had to lose some of the dross to make room, or sign players who would command lower wages (Grealish)
I get that, but why did the club say they would be brave during the transfer window if they had issues with wages. I feel like I keep making the same points so I'm just going to quit
Cos it’s good PR probably.
I reckon they also maybe thought the would have had a stadium sponsor, we wouldn’t have stadium issues, and the players we wanted would have been easier to get?
No I don’t have the profit figures to hand, although Atleti have also just built their own stadium.
If there are financial restrictions then the club need to come out and say it. How can they supposedly justify the hike in ticket prices as it contributes to player salaries and transfers, then not make any transfers, and have Poch blame Brexit for it? THST and the fans deserve to know the truth.
Our wage to turnover ratio is pretty low by the way

Yeh I realised that Atlético signed no players last summer either
The club lied to the fans simple as. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this. They totally used the "The transfer budget won't be affected " card, right before the season ticket prices convinietly went up. We have been sold a pack of lies by the club as has Pochettino.
