I would say Departed is a masterpiece as well.

I preferred it as a movie to Pans Labyrinth even though I think the directing is better by Del Toro

Yeah pretty good, less Hollywood than the original (ending differs). I guess you lose a bit of the shock factor which made the Departed so good; and it lacks the acting/editorial talent of the original.

Replace "original" with "remake" there
