Jose in or out?

I absolutely loved José in his first period with us but something happened at Real Madrid that changed him massively. He used to be fun, mischievous and yes he occasionally stepped over the line but it created a siege mentality and it was all about the club. The style of play was better than he was given credit for but he knew how to grind out a result when it was needed.

When he came back, and it seems like this has continued with you, he seems more concerned with his legacy and reputation than anything else. He’s alienated players consistently with snide, pointless comments in order to deflect from his own mistakes which was the opposite of his approach when he was at his peak.

Having seen it at my club twice before, he does seem to have gone into third season melt down mode - let’s see if he has learnt anything from the previous occasions. Personally I’m not sure he’s can because that’ll mean admitting to his own failings.

So, Rosso, totally the wrong tactics.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. Absolutely wrong tactics and approach.

But quite obviously not a counterattacking setup.

And, unlike people have been arguing this afternoon, absolutely not evidence that the players are "no longer playing for the manager".

The players did exactly what Jose asked of them today, barring the errors, wayward passing and lack of inspiration in the final third.

The problem wasn't that they didn't care. It was that they followed - and they really did follow - poor instructions, and that their technical execution was substandard.
---------------

Disagree with this. They didn't follow the tactics properly as they repeatedly switched off and let the opposition in. Lindelof for the first goal for example. Indicative of a team going through the motions, not fully focused. Hell, even Pogba has admitted the attitude was wrong and they didn't give it their all. So I'm surprised that you feel differently. It's been a problem for years. I remember Highton bringing a terrible Norwich team to Old Trafford and winning

I'd rather Carrick was given the job on an interim basis than let this circus continue. The club telling us everything is fine and being blown out of proportion. Yeah right. Pull the other one.

Sack him and let's get a DOF in place for next season and make Poch / Zidane etc an offer they can't refuse for next season.

Actually glad I'm away for another 12 days and missing the Spurs game. Half expecting to come home to the news he's been sacked. In fact if we lost at home vs Spurs and play as badly as it sounds like we did today.....he could very well go.

If you try and keep the opposition pinned in their own half they are far less likely to score than you are.

This really simple concept has totally passed Jose by in the last few years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there VC. It’s no coincidence that all of the managers of the rest of the top 6 play this way.

Emery, Sarri, Poch, pep and Klopp all employ a high press to win the ball up the pitch. As Klopp said if you win the ball closer to goal you have less work to do in the attacking sense as you are already right by the goal, ready to attack.

Jose out all the way and I gave been since last season

Why the hell are people saying give him time...who are we going to get in blah blah

He isn't miraculously going to change. His style of football is dreadful. That is simply not going to change. His relationship with certain players is not going to change. The players don't seem to want to play for him, the board appear to not want to back him. Why the hell keep him?
So he can slowly but surely tear the club apart completely. Just get rid now and get someone in. Not sure I can stomach another 9 months of this absolute tripe. The guy us poisonous

It's a question of when now not if. Chelsea waited too long and it cost them any chance of top 4. I fear we will do the same.

Theres clearly major issues. Losing can happen to any team but it's how you lose and it sounds like we didn't even fight today. Worrying comments too from Pogba.

Sack him now why we still have hopes of salvaging it.

Maybe I worded it incorrectly, so let me try again: they were *trying* to follow the boss's instructions; they just weren't effective instructions and the players didn't execute the technical aspects well.

The performance and result today had nothing to do with the players downing tools, as some have suggested.

No it isn't.

We could beat Spurs and then lose to Burnley.
-----------------------------------------------------------

+++

Like the Brighton game, Burnley is also on Robb's list of predicted, 'guaranteed' 3 points. (As is Spurs at home).

Spurs usually roll over at old Trafford so this ones probably a banker.

Unless there really is problems behind the scenes.

But could be a spursey hick up as usual.
