I think Doherty will be available and was withdrawn as a precaution, but Jonny will be a big loss and if he’s suffered ligament damage (as suspected) he’ll be out for quite some time.

At least January is around the corner and Fosun can simply by a new Jonny, as it were

Fingers crossed, it will only be a minor niggle and a short term loss, but that’s football and others will have their chance !

I think Doc will play but if not I would definitely not play Traore as a wing back, that would weaken us considerably defensively.
Don't know what Dendoncker is like with regards to pace but he is a defender who also plays MF so must be a ball player He would be my choice at RWB if needed.
Shame about Castro Otto as he was at his best against Arsenal but I have no worries about Vinagre who will scare the daylights out of Huddersfield's RB.

oh dear, poor us - jonny out and all we've got to put in is one of the most thrilling prospects i've ever seen at wolves, a kid who could be an absolute sensation.

we're doomed.

Vinagre still has a bit to prove defensively but is certainly good running with the ball and can provide us with an extra attacking weapon.

I don't see a problem for us if only one of the wing backs are out, but it is more of an issue if they were both missing

Since Nuno and his back room staff have been at the club our injuries have been remarkably minimal, to say the least. Now, because of a some what serious injury to Jonny, we have a problem? Not really.

There are many permutations with the squad we have. Vinagre is more than capable on the left and if Doherty doesn't play (and he probably will) then Bennett could move up and Dendonker goes in the back three. That's without shuffling around the likes of Cavaliero, Traore, Jota and Costa, or even using some of our youngsters.

So, as Wolfgang has hinted, kein Problem.

I think Vinagre provides us with more width on the left hand side. He stays wide more often where Jonny cuts inside. He is also more likely to take a man on, which may be required if Huddersfield get men behind the ball.

Against Huddersfield and Cardiff, where I would expect us to have more of the ball; I would have been tempted to start him anyway. I think we are more likely to stretch the defence with him in the team.

It's also been mentioned by the OP, that Jonny has been out of form recently since the birth of his child, which probably backs up the idea that Vinagre will be the best choice in that position and what a chance for the lad to impress, especially against sides like Huddersfield and Cardiff.

wolfie, Jonny has been off form but as I stated above he was at his best against Arsenal. This is what Tim Spiers said about him in his player ratings for that game:

Jonny Castro Otto
Epitomised Wolves’ whole-hearted commitment when he put his face in the way of Mesut Ozil’s boot to stop Arsenal breaking from a Wolves corner. A truly excellent defensive display which included six, yes six, tackles – the most on the pitch. A tireless effort and he read the game with the 20/20 vision. A massive return to form after three average performances. 9/10

Jonny was magnificent at Arsenal after a couple of below par performances. Not an ounce of doubt he would be first choice when fit. Hope this injury isn’t so long term it stops us signing him permanently in January

Any great side in history will have had two outstanding full back, quite simply it’s the most important part of any threatening side. If your not sure that Halfy’s correct, have a quick ‘think’ and you’ll realise Halfy’s correct

Does anybody know when we’re likely to get the next instalment of the ‘transfer Twitter window’ trilogy ?

Indeed, Barry Douglas was a fantastic servant to the club and it was harsh at the time to move him on, but if anybody thinks Jonny isn’t a major improvement then you must need corrective eye surgery!

Miss Barry's set piece deliveries though

Yes he had a great left foot, but would have been ‘ripped a new one’ in the prem. I expect it was really difficult to be rejected for the lad. On a plus note it shows that Nuno will make the changes necessary regardless of feelings. Tuff decisions hurt, but we move on !

Not doubting Jonny is first choice Gem and I guess every player has a dip in form, but in a way I'm glad Vinagre will have a chance to prove he's a worthy replacement, if selected. The lad certainly has talent.

Yeah that's a fact. I suspect Bonatini is the next one to see Nuno's finger pointing at the exit.

Jonny predicted to be absent for at least 6 weeks, which means he wont play again in 2018

I reckon it might be Saiss. Particularly if the rumours of a new centre back coming in January are true.

I wouldn't sell Bonatini until we have bought in another striker, but we surely will do that in January.

Saiss meanwhile covers the same positions as Dendoncker so is probably someone we could afford to offload. Gibbs White has also overtaken him in the pecking order in midfield now, and Hause may well be selected ahead of him in defence

When thinking of the options if Doherty didn't make Saturday I forgot the man who has been playing in that position for the U23s in recent games. Could Iorfa yet rescue his Wolves career?

Although Iorfa was one of the original registered squad players and lots of us think he has the ability to become a top class wing back, it seems that Nuno does not share our enthusiasm. Obviously Nuno has been close up and personal with the player and has seen something he doesn't like hence sending him out on loan.
I would be surprised if we see Iorfa in a Wolves shirt again.

I would be surprised too. But if Doherty missed Sunday I think he is one of the better options
