Hughes for me

With the possible exception of Giggs in the future that's a horrific list of managers.

Sir Giggsy.

Not on the list, but Larry White maybe.

Giggsy is an awful manager now.

Bruce for me. Only semi successful one on there

Roy Keane.

People forget the great job he done with Sunderland. They struggled in the PL but most promoted sides do.

Ipswich was a bad choice from him to go back into management with. His issues there stemmed from not accepting the lower quality and professionalism of the players there to those which he had spent almost his entire footballing life around.

Giggs. Easily.

Can't believe people are saying he's an awful manager already. He's managing a poor Wales team that massively overachieved under Coleman. That was never sustainable.

He gets United. He knows what the club is about and I'm positive he'd encourage players to attack and play with freedom.

However in saying all that.....he's only the best of that list. For our next coach....I want somebody proven like Poch, Jardim, Nagelsmann etc.

Giggs has done nothing. Getting ‘utd’ won’t make him a good manager. He just doesn’t strike me as a particularly astute or motivational type. I may be proved wrong, but it’s funny seeing all these calls for him...based on nothing other than he was a great player at the club. Great players don’t always make good managers.

Not a tremendously inspiring bunch for you lot to choose from. I'd guess Hughes and Bruce are your experienced but both of those dropping away. Giggs may one day be a good manager but not pulling up trees with Wales, though he is trying to bring through their next generation.

Giggs could destroy a lot of his legacy managing us right now. I think most managers would struggle with how this club is run.

Are there any successful managers who played under Fergie?

It's a bit surprisingly none (to my knowledge) have come through as top managers just given how incredible Fergie was

posted on 22/11/18

TBH it would be very risky but I would love to have Keane one day. I'm not sure if it's the right time though.

At the moment, I would go with Hughes or Bruce as they have the most noteable experience.

Could see that being a hindrance more than anything, especially if they modelled their management style on the man himself.

Possibly. Just seems unusual to me.

Then again top managers are a tiny proportion of managers so it's not that surprising I guess

It also seems more and more common that top managers have experienced little success as players and have instead worked their way up from the very bottom of the coaching ladder

Apparently Vidic is giving it a go and doing it the right way, from the bottom up.

Giggs is the obvious option, who knows how good he really is though.

Michael Carrick looks like he may become a good coach/manager. He's a pretty calm character who talks a good game.

Anyone saying Keane must need their head testing. A Utd legend for sure but trouble follows him around, plus his record is largely poor.
