Not seen it mentioned yet, but Happy Birthday to Mick McCarthy - 60 today, and one of our club' finest ever managers. Sharing the same birth date as the Azkal's keeper, Neil Etheridge. Enjoying a beer to drink to them both.
"Birth date" should be "birth day". They're not the same age!
Happy Birthday Mick, a top championship manager
Watched a video published today of highlights from Mick’s press conferences. Great character

Mick did a great job for the club taking us to the premier league playing exciting attacking football but didn’t have owners worth billions to buy players worth £100m so that he could make the same style of football work in the top flight
Stick the needle into managers that were hopeless for Wolves like Solbakken and Saunders and Hoddle but don’t be a plastic fan and say that the club we had before we had billionaire owners should now he cast to the rubbish tip
Mick had to opportunity to buy players but chose his love children instead.
Mick brought players in and hen refused to play them preferring his love children.
Nuno didn't buy £100m worth of players when he got us promoted (with a record points haul) because he started building a prem squad whilst still in the championship.
At the end of the day Mick did well to get us to the prem but that was the end of the story. He has never been and never will be capable of managing in the Premier League. If he was given £100m to spend he would probably bring back Karl Henry and Stephen Ward.
I get a little bit tired of all the accolades from people with short memories. No Wolves manager in my lifetime has split fans opinion as much as Mick did and I remember loving him and being frustrated by him in equal measure during his time at Wolves.
And by the way, this is all as a result of But winding everyone up AGAIN with his never ending windup subject. I would be prepared to bet that Bute actually is not that bigger fan of Mick as he makes out
Oh and being called a plastic fan after all the years I have been loyal to Wolves is frankly insulting!

I stand by what I said, top championship manager and did a good job with Ireland. 3 relegations in 5 prem attempts isnt worth much mention really.
Wholeheartedly agree with every word there Gemlad.
Maybe posters (other than DJ of course), will realize that Butey relishes in re-counting his memories of MM and the Molineux Hotel and posting them on here hoping to get a bite.
By the way... he's blocked me, as he keeps reminding everyone. But as I posted earlier, I haven't blocked him because I enjoy reading his risible drivel and get a
For some reason belittling people in press conferences and calling fans numpties whenever they get peed of with the crap you deliver makes you a 'great character'.
Archaic grandad football, hump and lump, hit and hope type stuff, the games changed nowadays tippy tappy, closes and pressy
Easy
Reality is that football has left Mick and his type behind for the most part, that style never has been sustainable.
Mick? Again? It's 2019 ffs.
McCarthy is more contentious than Brexit on here.
Ignoring the drivel you write about love children gem, Wolves are a completely different club since Fosun arrived and to say that we are a better team now than we were before, well frankly it would be a calamity if we weren’t.
In his promotion season McCarthy was able to bring in players with a total transfer cost similar to what Nuno spent on Traore. How much better than McCarthy’s team would we be now if you took out Patricio, Jonny, Boly, Moutinho, Dendoncker, Jota and Jimenez. Let alone the small fortune nuno was able to spend in the championship on Neves, Costa, Cavaleiro etc.
Nuno is a top class manager with a quality supporting coaching team, long may he stay here. Wolves have had around 20 managers since McGarry in the mid 70s and McCarthy is, at the very least, one of the best we had in that time. As a loyal Wolves supporter that means he will retain my full support, and will continue to do so regardless of what we achieve now we are owned by billionaires. Most of the others in that list of 20 are complete failures by comparison
No need to compare Mick to Nuno, compare him to his peers when in the prem.........34 clubs have matched or done better than that marvelous 15th place finish since the turn of the century, that is over a third of the football league.
Mick did great getting us promoted but lets not kid ourselves he did anything other than bang average in the premier league and he DID have money to spend but sadly wasted it on 26 players of which three or four had managed to hold down a spot by the time he was sacked.
