So it is better then.
In terms of what seemed to be the pre-season expectations:
City - where they should be
Liverpool - above predicted.
Spurs - above predicted
Arsenal - above expectations.
United - way below expectations
Chelsea - below where they were predicted
Some even had Arsenal below Everton
But to dismiss Europe and the domestic cups is pretty ridiculous. I'm sure Spurs, United, Chelsea and Arsenal would all take coming outside the top 4 if they won the respective European tournament they were in.

Emery is doing a good job imo with that squad because i'm not sure Xhaka should be paid money to play football and he's got you there while using him, that deserves credit

If the league were to finish today I’d say there was a difference finishing second, 1 point away from winning the league, and third, twelve points behind.
A lot of people didn't see us as even challenging top 4 before the season started though. Our expected fight was with Everton rather than United.
Think we’re about where we should be, maybe over exceeding due to our good start. Still on the chase for top 4 despite a new manager, new pholosophy, under par squad, and got a cup final and in quarters of Europa.
Still been frustrating though.

Placing second means nothing. You dont get a trophy for it and it is not always indicative of the future therfore ultimately it is no different from the similar tangible benefits of 3rd and 4th
United finished second and this season are out of Top 4 atm. 2nd is not indicative of future placement.

I'd of been one of them to be fair
He's done well with what is a limited squad. Class strikers then patchy everywhere.
Imagine what he would do with the cash Chelsea, United, City or Liverpool spend. Dreams i imagine happen all over North London.
