Any racist abuse

All walk off.

It makes perfect sense.

He’s given an honest interview. He won’t care that there are idiots who don’t give him sympathy.

What are you struggling with from that?

posted on 5/4/19

Rose is sticking with football because that’s his job. After he retires it’s unlikely he’ll be able to get a career with comparable financial rewards unless he becomes a top coach. The idea that he doesn’t deserve sympathy for racial abuse because he earns lots of money, and is going to continue to do so to set himself up for life after he retires in his mid 30’s, is frankly pathetic.

Footballers may live in a bubble, but so do football fans when it comes to judging the feelings of the players that they watch religiously, just because they earn money that they couldn’t possibly earn in their lives.

Good grief, he wants a reaction from these people, he wants something done, he doesn't think the current response is good enough, that's why he is upset, so obviously he does care what they think.

That's a total straw man argument, I never said he would not deserve sympathy, but the way he responded was so precious and he is ALREADY a multi-millionaire, so if it hurts him that much he can quit - something he is not going to do...

does anyone know wtf Kick it Out even do these days?

Try to get Sol Campbell hired.

I thought you were intimating that, so apologies if I’ve misinterpreted it. I don’t think it’s precious at all. It’s clearly quite a big deal. Yes he may already be a millionaire, but that’s beside the point. He still has a life to live after football and continuing in his career is necessary for him to earn more money for when he does retire. He has to maximise what little time he has left in his career. Not just financially but on a sporting level as a competitor - he’s never won a trophy in his career.

He wants things done by the people who can affect change.

I’m referring to the idiots who won’t give him sympathy. He won’t care about those people.

Can you actually read?

But that’s just essentially saying “well, it’s his choice”. He shouldn’t be put in a situation where a choice due to that reason should ever be one he should have to contemplate whatsoever.

Winston

Started watching football with my dad in the seventies ad Clive Best was the only black player In div1 ..

Then came the West Brom guys and the players got NF abuse until the eighties.

Can't believe this is still here in the UK!...but people are idiots.

Yes, I can read, your comprehension skills appear to be extremely limited, without the general public on board he certainly won't get what he wants, there will be no pressure at all.
How do you not manage to grasp that ?

He has a perfectly legitimate complaint but he comes over as precious and whiny with his :
""I can't wait to see the back of football"

Some people are not going to be able - or want to - get it, on this evidence you appear to be one of them.
Good day to you.

posted on 5/4/19

Because he doesn’t like the politics in football and racial abuse he’s received. It’s a completely understandable position if you have any moral fibre. People claiming him to be precious and whiny are a part of the problem. It’s a serious facking issue.

I follow Linfield in Belfast and we had two black players in the nineties and our rivals zzzGlentorsn had fans in monkey outfits throwing bananas on the pitch.

We had an NF element in the 80's too but when swastika flags appeared we got rid asap.

You could try using your own comprehension skills and apply context to that comment rather than take it in isolation, to be fair. For some reason, you've then associated that with the money he earns rather than the racial abuse and political inertia he was talking about.

If you didn't read the rest of the interview, then I can kind of get how you can make that association, although I'd argue you shouldn't be saying because you don't know enough about the context. If you did read it and still think that, then as said before, that says more about you than it does him or anyone else.

I can see your point and at the same time know why Rose feels miffed.

Don’t agree with the racial abuse he is and has received whatsoever and they should be duly punished however nobody is forcing him to play. He’s still happy to receive a fat pay cheque at the end of it and I found his comment regarding the fines around the same he spends on a night out very arrogant. In fact he’s a very dislikable individual. (Not saying that’s right to abuse him before the precious jump on it).
In many walks of life people get abused one way or another. Look at the emergency services. They are getting abused, spat at, physically assaulted day in day out and are on less a yr than rose earns a week. Perhaps we should start supporting them first before we all jump on the bandwagon of a footballer

Did you listen to the interview Manc? As I’m honestly staggered that anyone can possibly think that was a literal comment about how much he spends on a night out rather than a dig at the amount clubs and nations are being fined for racism. It was a joke to prove a point, the interviewer laughed at it.

I struggle with people interpreting it that way even if they’ve only read it, it’s so clear what the context of it is.

Well a very bad taste joke regardless.

Plus it changes absolutely nothing from the rest of my post

How do you stop it?

Dock points? No fair on the players and fans

massive fines? May make the clubs do more but how do you stop the odd idiot?

Ban fans? Again, hardly fair on the 99%

posted on 5/4/19

culture needs to change first. It will but not in my lifetime unfortunately.

posted on 5/4/19

It wasn’t bad taste at all unless you apply a literal context that clearly wasn’t meant.

In terms of the rest of your comment, I assume that Rose is being discussed because this is a football forum and his comments are part of a wider narrative at the minute. Of course you should support anyone that suffers abuse. The money they earn doesn’t make any difference to the potential emotional impact to the individual.

It’s you trying to comprehend my point, not the other way around, numpty.

This may come as a revelation to you but ‘the general public’ don’t all think the same thing.

So he will make his comments and ignore the idiots who offer moronic feedback.

This is a basic concept. Clearly not basic enough for your limited intelligence.

But this is the problem with the media. They dont discuss it at all until it’s some high profile footballer or whatever.
