My pal payed close to a bag of sand for a ticket in AMdAm last night in Uefa neutral section. It was obviously all Ajax and they had to a runner when Moura netted the winner, even though they were already standing by the exit!
I'm a United fan and even I've got tickets to the final. This is from a United fan as well.
Similar thing in Munich. Both Clubs had 17,000 out of a 62,000 capacity and many genuine Season Ticket Holders (including me) from both Clubs couldn't legitimately get anywhere near a ticket. My one was facking useless as everyone seemed to be near the max points that season.
However I did manage to get one at face value £125.00 from a Corporately well-connected mate so all was good in the end. It's criminal IMO how the establishments carve up the Lions share of tickets to hand out to their cronies, but there you go money talks, it is what it is.

Tbf, even domestically it is ridiculous criteria that you must meet to get an away ticket for some games anyway.
Remember a couple of years ago a couple of mates of mine tried buying tickets for West Brom away but I think you had to have been to all 19 away games from the season previous, as well as something outlandish like 2 FA Cup games from 1986 as well as a very specific Stoke home fixture from 2011.
As you say, you have to build up contacts in order to get tickets anywhere these days.
