Spurs have already played against the RAF national team & I believe they will be having another match versus the Combined Services Team.

How do I know? Just spent two days playing golf with the RAF Football Vets (of which I am one) and the current chairman of the RAF FA was in attendance.

These fixtures occur on a regular basis across most of the teams in the PL, they use the Services because they a) know that they will not get kicked to pieces. b) so they can practise set plays and tactics with reasonable standard of opponents.

Sorry meant to say that these games also give the two Harry’s a chance to continue getting match practise

Are the forces teams really a decent standard?

I've played against a few ex-players and yeah tbh.

In fact I played against a 50 year old once (I was in my 20's and fit as a flea at the time) who played for the army first team and couldn't get near the fvcker. His first touch was brilliant.

Fair play. I hope they're good enough to get players match-sharp. It'll be a much better game if Winks and Kane start.

Hi Bales

The standard is probably akin to League 1.

When I played for the Combined Services back in the early 70’s, there were around 8 players who could have
Comfortably survived in the Football League at high level.

When I was based in Singapore, we played the Singapore national team as part of their preparation trying to qualify for the 1974 WC. We beat them 3-1 and we had 7 players with Football League experience in our team that night.

So in answer to your question, yes the standard is very good indeed.

Key thing is that they will play flat out but will not make silly tackles

Hi GG. Impressive stuff! Hopefully it's enough to keep everyone ticking over and get the Harrys up to speed.
