Pretty sure every Spurs manager in living memory has told Levy (sometimes publicly) that they need signings in early

For some reason Levy has listened to Ange though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cause he knows he’s in the last chance saloon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Levy owns the saloon. If Ange doesn't work out, on to the next until Levy wants to walk away. His way.

I think Ange's straight talking is on Levy's level. Poch always spoke in riddles and broken english. Nuno was a stop gap. Conte was cray but he did back Jose too. Another good talker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bit f*cking racist, and also nonsense, as usual.

That we’re even getting excited over poxy f*cking loan deals just shows how low our expectations have become under Levy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

On what planet is that racist? And what’ve you got against Ange Sizz? I saw you questioning his position when we had a little dip (that coincided with the injuries & suspensions), completely unreasonable IMO.

Playing in CL Semi’s & Finals > Getting knocked out the league cup in the first round.

That’s all I’m saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I love Pochettino more than most but even I recognise he'd gone weird by the end, and his record of picking players was pretty ropey. Obviously he wasn't helped by the restrictions he was put under financially but he did give the green light for some very poor players.

Nowadays I get the sense he's just not at the cutting edge of coaching any more, and I'm glad Spurs opted for Ange instead
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Levy’s 7th choice, lest we forget.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair comment (not sure it was actually 7th, but the point is fair)

Surely you can see/appreciate the positive change since Ange came in though? And the better feel around the club?

Whether it translates into trophy success only time will tell

Injuries happen in football though. It's bad luck a lot of the time and we have been struck worse this season than in most.

What about the positives so far from this season?

The brand of football, the hopefully high points tally, the success of the new signings and other players should also be seen as positives.

Ange will have done a very good job to turn the club around from where it was.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that would be a major achievement rather a mere ‘positive’ seeing as no manager has won us an FA Cup for over 3 decades. Not helped by us drawing the best team in world football in the 4th round when we have half a dozen first teamers away or injured. Gonna be incredibly difficult to get past City, but if we do then who knows.

Top 4… not sure if that was an expectation at the start of the season, but it’s definitely achievable now. 18 games to go, I think with the rub of the green injuries wise we could do better than 4th.

That's true.

Unless it's me speaking it, in which case it means the opposite.

In Poch's case I wouldn't actually really call it broken English. I think he puts it on a bit. He does speak in riddles quite often though!

I didn’t want him back personally as I believe he’s something of a busted flush these days, and I don’t believe in going back trying to recreate old magic - it rarely works. I think with Poch, reflect on the good times, acknowledge that there were some failings and just forget about him and move on. He’s not exactly pulling up any trees at Chelsea, will inevitably get sacked and by managing that lot he’s tainted now. As a coach his best years are behind him.

Tottenham will be able to name Radu Dragusin on their Under-21 list when it comes to submitting an updated Premier League squad after the January transfer window has closed for business. Certainly helps out with the non-homegrown player numbers. #THFC

I loved poch but he’s the past, i never wanted him back. And as we can see, he’s doing nothing special at chelsea - we were basically in the same position as them at the start of the season, with less money, and look at the different trajectories. Surprised some fans still clamour for his return

I seem to remember reading stats that it's incredibly rare for managers to have more than 10 or so years at the top level - sort of like their peak shelf life before football trends move on and they get left behind the curve a bit. Managers like Guardiola and Ferguson being all the more exceptional because of how much they buck that trend.

Even the likes of Conte and Mourinho who FEEL like they've been around forever... You look at their careers and it's hard to argue they've genuinely been at the absolute pinnacle of management for more than 10 or so years. Nowadays they're clearly a step behind the best.

Pochettino has been in mamagement for ~14 years now - I suppose there's an argument that he's yet to peak, but it feels unlikely somehow. Feels more like he peaked a few years back (possibly even at Spurs) and even then he was maybe a step behind the best-of-the-best.
