I would have kept BJ.
We're a bit light in midfield now.
I have just seen the MM interview and I have to say it was very impressive about Cocu and what has been going on. Cocu has a few transfer ideas and we are to encourage the academy players. He is keen to strike the positive friendly attitude towards Frank and Chelsea and feels the excellent development of Wilson, Tomori and Mount will stand us in good stead for more loans.
If we had to lose Frank, I think Cocu is the ideal replacement and he will continue to work in the same way as him. I am very hopeful for the future, even if it takes more than one season. I was very muchimpressed by Mel Morris.
The contrast between this managerial change and that underhanded one engineered by slimy Sam is massive and very encouraging
Frank was quoted as saying
"But not just about that, I don't want to make it just about the youth and the younger players because I relied heavily on some of the great characters that were there, with their experience -Richard Keogh, Craig Bryson, David Nugent, Bradley Johnson."
So to him these were some of our key players last season, in addition to the loans.
How many are going to be with us at the start of next season?
There was a time when I'd have been glad to see the back of BJ, but I thought he did a useful job for us last season. Paying £6m for a player then seeing them leave on a free is also annoying.
Well said Ramdini, agree with you.
I'm glad Bradley has gone, he's 32, he was on large wages and only started playing properly when he was looking for a new contract. I'd like Huddlestone to find a new club also.
I don't understand why BJ signed a new contract on vastly reduced terms then left the club on a free transfer anyway. I think he was worth keeping, useful squad player at worst.
Keogh may end up being the only one left of the old guard. At the end of the day we have to move players on and BJ was one of them in my eyes. His first 10 games and second half of last season aside he has been a poor signing, we move on!

My guess Harps, is that the new contract at least guaranteed a wage? It was maybe peanuts to him, but I'd wager non of us mortals would pass it up? In the meantime, he's sorted out a better offer at Blackburn.
Based on the fact he's gone and got another job, I'm glad he's gone.
sorry to see Bradley Johnson go to be honest.for me he was a good player who was under used and because of this lacked confidence at timesbut towards the end of the season he played very well and was a grafter for the club.i will reserve comment on cocu but hope he is as good as he sounds.maybe he will bring some good foreign players in

You can't have one without the other. It is the end of an era. Craig Bryson, David Nugent, Bradley Johnson, have all done a sound job for us but they have reached their sell by date. A couple of signings plus emergers from the academy with do the job.
Me and my camel are going skittish in the sand over the confirmation of this appointment. Sometimes in life you just know when something is a perfect fit, and this one in my Derby garbled mind keeps saying Yes, Yes Yes!!!
Will be back in England for the first two weeks of August to run the rule over the new messiah at Huddersfield, Scunthorpe and at Pride Park against Swansea. COYR
Bit of background on the Fenerbache debacle, I think we'll be more receptive to his ideas but it might take a bit of tinkering for Cocu to bring the choo.
https://www.dailysabah.com/football/2018/10/02/cocu-not-only-to-blame-for-fenerbahces-downfall
Looks like he can be a bit pragmatic too, interested to see what he does with us. 4-2-3-1 with Evans/Huddz/Holmes holding. 4-3-3 with a Robin Van Der Laan or will he try the diamond n get Waggy n Jack 'I don't brown nose' Marriott together.
much rather have seen huddlestone go instead of Johnson as he is past his best now
The Huddz was treated appallingly, now that Frankie's favourites are gone it's Huddz o clock.
There's life, skill and the best play maker we have in the olde dog yet plus regular game time to keep him fit, WGT.

Coco the clown......cocu the cl.... ahhhhh I see what they did there, very clever, one can only aspire to be at those levels of humour. I'll have a go though.......
Snottingham florest hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa nailed it.
A good read on Cocu's tactics and football philosophy :
http://outsideoftheboot.com/2015/07/30/tactical-philosophy-philip-cocu/
I've also had a look at PSV's squad during Cocu's time and created a list of probable players he might consider. High profile players like Depay, Luuk De Jong, Winaldum obviously we're not going to get, but squad players or those that have seen their career dip since PSV days.
Oscar Hiljemark (midfielder)
Nicolas Isimat-Mirin (defender)
Jürgen Locadia (winger / striker currently with Brighton. Was a 12 million signing and been with club 2 seasons without pulling any trees. Best is getting him on loan).
Clint Leemans ( goalscoring midfielder)
Jordy de Wijs ( defender , currently with Hull. Comes from PSV with famous father and grandfather who played for Dutch national side)
Davy Pröpper ( midfielder - also at Brighton from PSV, highly improbable we'd sign him, possibly on loan)
Gastón Pereiro ( Uruguayan goalscoring midfielder, would take a big offer to get him from PSV)
Marco van Ginkel ( utility midfielder - saw a link in DET for this player too. Seems a bit injury prone and been on loan forever from Chelsea. Given the links to Chelsea and PSV makes it likely. Got a year left on contract)
Siem de Jong ( midfielder/ forward) - known for his time at Newcastle, went on loan to PSV under Cocu and from there to Ajax. Doesn't look like it worked , was on loan last season at Sydney FC. Injuries may have ruined his career.
Bart Ramselaar - (midfielder) just for that name alone!
Derrick Luckassen - (defender)
Sam Lammers - ( forward, scored 16 goals last season on loan to SC Heerenveen)
Maximiliano Romero ( Forward, would be a coup to get him on loan, 20, Argentinan striker. Was linked to Arsenal but injury cancelled the deal. )
Mauro Júnior ( midfielder, 20, not broken into first team , played a few matches)
Ferdi Kadioglu ( midfielder Dutch / Turkish decent, signed by Cocu at Fenerbache)
Be interesting if Cocu goes for any of the above, no doubt he'll have an eye on youth , also players coming from our Academy. I'd be chuffed if 3 of the above players were signed - cos you know you read it here first!
I know football fans are notoriously over-optimistic during pre-season, but look at how buzzing Derby fans are about Cocu, and what this season will bring (including me, and I’m a ‘glass-half-empty’ misery-arse). Meanwhile, on the Florest board, nobody has even posted an article to say they’ve got a new manager.

Its called irony, Dean. I assume from your name that you get irony.
Yes it is. BTW, are you Alanis Morissette? She didn't understand it, either.
It would be if you hadn't called us 'Snottingham' and 'Florest' for the last 30 years I know to. You're obviously the one struggling to understand what irony actually is.
Apologies, I foolishly thought I was replying to a post on this thread, rather than addressing 30 years’ worth of cumulative banter. I forgot I was addressing an audience where 50 % were firmly entrenched in the past.
