A couple of factors, one of them a new development make me think we should keep him and here's why neither of which are economic/business type decisions.

-Given what we are hearing about Janson I don't think we can now afford to take 2 players out of the heart of the side and expect to progress from last season. You hope to progress but it makes it harder.

- 20m-25m is great money but it's amazing how easily that can be frittered away and I am not convinced Orta has what it takes to replace him and bring the quality in elsewhere.

How about keeping Phillips working with him further still in the pre season to get even more out of him to be our lynchpin, we actually get promoted and then laugh in the face of having to sell to the Villas and other sky money beneficiaries and start talking to him again at that point under different circumstances.

Rob, if Bielsa doesn’t want the players, do you trust Bielsa’s judgement or not?

Jonty. I would back him on the Janson one if that is what he thinks is best but not on Phillips as well.

Rob, so you’re doubting his judgement?

I trust him but recognise that he’s not perfect.

Often people duck out of yes or no questions but I won't. I admire Bielsa and his footballing philosophy but if he let go Phillips before this season for football reasons(never mind the fee offfered) I would question that judgement.

Rob, appreciate your honesty, I would like to think he is happy enough with alternatives, remember we questioned Klich, Philips bpf selection fur first match.

I think the reason I feel particularly strongly about Phillips is that he played a pivotal role in the sort of way MB wanted us to play with his excellent breaking up of play, calm passing and ability to play at the back too and I think we don't have someone that can step onto that role.

On Bielsa I probably see him as having a few similar traits to Wenger. both brilliant men football wise and legends of the game. I think on field he has been fantastic.Where I would take issue with his on being almost to noble and thinking he has to go with the cards dealt or what worked in Chile 20 years ago with a small tight knit squad.

Going into 18/19 season with barely any centre backs and knowing the injury record we had in the first half of that season I almost wish he'd turned into Warnock/Pulis for the day in January and said to Orta, "get me a premier ship quality centre back" and adapt to the circumstances rather than sticking with an entrenched position.

As I say these are small things and I would probably bow down to him if I bumped into him but as with anyone he is not perfect.

Agree with a lot of that rob and I’ve saud before he needs to tweak his approach.

I was hugely impressed with Philips reading of game, the number of times he stepped in front of his man to take the ball was superb.

Does anyone really feel if we sold him for 20 mill that we’d even spend 10 on a replacement?

And that, is the real problem.

The thing with Bielsa not being perfect is he's the team coach, the players boss!..

He has to keep control no matter who comes or goes!..

Phillips to us is a must, but to the club he's just another part of the jigsaw!..

Whoever comes or goes Bielsa has to be backed, if it goes wrong than he fails, if it goes right he wins!..

How often have we had people in charge that failed for the wrong reasons?..

Here's hoping Phillips doesn't go, he is a main piece of our jigsaw and needed is an understatement!..

Thing is that any PL club could afford to pay KP at least £30k+ a week. We must offer him at least a 3 year deal worth £25k a week if he is to stay.

Wolves have no enquired about KP, are going to pay at least £26m & give him £30K a week. Nout we can do about it.

If that is the case then, KP I wish you well young man.

The club could offer a long contract and ask how much it will take in wages for him to stay, acknowledging the club cannot match Wolves.

We mustn’t offer KP stupid wages. He’s simply not worth it, sell sell sell for silly money.
This obsession with a player with such limited availability is all about home grown.
Not the way to run a business.

So to you our overrated keeper is worth more than Phillips!..

I know which I'd prefer to keep!..

What has it got to do with a keeper ?

posted on 12/7/19

I would get rid of both keepers if that’s possible

If you have players like Lorimer or Radebe in your team you can get rid off the keepers!..

Unfortunately we haven't!..

I'm still trying to work out how "you" can sell a player you don't rate for silly money, only rated/good players go for silly money!..

We buy 2 keepers, really simple Germany.
One mans junk is another mans treasure is the expression.
I don’t rate KP highly, some do
I would take advantage.
