Timing......

To keep on topic with the OP and the dithering of Radz and his cohorts, I was never comfortable with the decision mid-season to leave contract talks with Roofe and KP until the summer. So much can change in that time and it makes the club vulnerable to bids for them if the talks stall. If the players choose not to sign during the season, the club then knows what its facing in the summer and can plan for it and target a replacement. Leaving it this late can be disruptive and create panic as time starts to run out to find someone else.

There's a pattern of fiddling while Rome burns with this lot and as LIW has already stated, it takes forever to sign players. 5 weeks to buy, 5 minutes to sell. I'm becoming increasingly less trusting of these owners and their commitment to looking after the interests of the first team squad. There seems to be an anal preoccupation with signing players for the U23s while the needs of the first team squad are negleacted. It's great that the U23s won the title last season but the club is facing its 16th season outside of the PL. The owners have gone from one extreme to the other regarding contracts - from dishing out 4 year deals for average players on the back of 3 or 4 games, players who we can't get rid of now that their true worth has become obvious, to dragging their heels when it's plain we need to protect and reward our most valuable assets.

As I despairingly stated in another post, there's always unwanted drama and controversy where LUFC are concerned. How the hell we're not all on Prozac following this club I'll never know.

Before I get clobbered foe suggesting that the first team is neglected when it comes to buying players - yes, last week was good with a number of players coming in, but the squad still looks light in one or two areas and then we have to sweat on existing players still being with us at the start of the season. Clarke gone but back for a season, Jansson on his way, who knows what will happen with KP and Roofe especially. What's building on what we already have when we face haemorrhaging players out of the club? I'm probably too sensitive at the moment because I'm annoyed and disappointed with the PJ fiasco but the comments I've read all seem to be making the same points. I'm desperate for the club to do well and finally succeed but it's so frustrating with AR and co at the wheel with anything but urgency when this is their time to pull their finger out.

Pontus will be a big loss if he goes.
We will struggle to get anyone in who's anywhere near as good.
Unfortunately, this has been brewing for some time as he seems to have the attitude that he's more "in charge" than Bielsa. A few times he gave hints of that last season. It's not a positive thing and he needs to be shown the door.
To get £5.5m for him under the circumstances is painful, but probably the best we could hope for since this is public knowledge.
We need a successor and fast!

Anything short of £9m is daylight robbery, one of the top 5 CBS in the league, should be an easy £12m

We’ve only had Costa and White come in. Can’t say Harrison and Clarke are new signings.

I completely agree that we’re spending too
Much time and resources on new U23s when this season should be all about promotion.

No one wants to ignore the U23s but we seem to spend much more effort on them than the main focus which surely should be promotion for first team this seeason.

I’m just pig sick of “giving” our top players away! I can’t see us getting anywhere near promotion if KP and KR go as well. I bet the club doesn’t even replace Jansson - after all they’ve brought young White in - on loan!!!
I was so full of hope when Bielsa was staying, but I just feel down and miserable now. I wish there was treatment for this addiction to LUFC because I’m sick of being disappointed.

Don’t panic, lots accomplished already, plenty of time to bring players in still (1 or 2 weeks).

In two weeks, if we haven’t signed a big solid defender to replace PJ then go mental by all means! 😉

Maybe the focus on the U23’s is to replace players moving up to the first team squad?

Just a thought.
