Report from 2013.

Still goes though mainly at Celtic I admit

Our average home attendance is around 50,000 in a 61,000 seater stadium. Figures reported to the police and not season books.

Highest was just under 60,000 against Aberdeen and lowest around 39,000 against St Johnstone on a bleak January Wednesday night

No Ginger, you cannot evidence that to be the case in the same way Wakey has evidenced the disparity between gates declared and actual gates albeit back in 2013. For all we know actual gates last year could have been anywhere between 19,000 and 50,000.
Does rather beg the question, why do 20,000 people buy season tickets and not bother to attend. Can only be that the standard of football played is so poor they cannot be 'rsed going.

To come back to the OP, the fact that nothing seems to be happening about a new improved contract for Roofe is worrying.

As I said elsewhere, this should have been addressed during the season, instead of consciously putting it off until the summer. Bad, irresponsible management by AR and co. With a month to go before the window slams shut, we're faffing about doing all the work now. You can't sign or sell players outside of the window, but you can secure the players you already have.

Our centenary season threatens to be a huge anti-climax before it even starts. Will Jansson be replaced with a quality player? Will the same apply if Roofe goes?

I can see KP rejecting a new deal on the back of all this uncertainty. Players talk amongst themselves and will have their own opinions about what's going on. It can't be encouraging for anyone to see how things are developing, however much they want to play for MB.

I hope that sooner rather than later, QSI do come in because it's plain that AR is financially out of his depth. Every window is torture, worrying about keeping our best players and wondering if we're going to bring in the standard of players needed to make a decent fist of promotion.

I don't accept that the club's strategy is solely down to FFP.

If Roofe doesn't want to sign, then the club has 2 options - the Beckford route and Roofe walks away for free in 12 months time, or cash in now.

It's up to AR - stick or twist?

Elland, I suppose that depends on one thing:

If they sell Roofe, will they get a replacement who is as good in before the start of the season.

If they can, then do it. If not then keep Roofe and go for promotion.

Erm. Yes I can as we have to produce actual attendances for the police in order that they have sufficient officers on duty at any particular game. The “average” home attendance for Celtic is 57,000 and these are all the season ticket holders who for a number of reasons don’t attend games. Therein lies the disparity in numbers.

Whilst on that the article mentions one game in a whole season where the disparity was 20,000 and 15,000 for rangers whereas further on it states it to be nearer 11,000. Typical Daily Record rag sensationalism but you choose that if you like.

The most common reason is that many of our fans are from throughout the whole of the UK (even one in Leeds) and across in Ireland. They buy season books to ensure they get to the games they can travel to, the bigger games, qualification for away tickets, cups and Europe.

So yes, qualified

I love Scotland, as in the scenery. One of the most beautiful places in the world. But the footy is atrocious, 2 very very average L1 teams battling it out between themselves. I’d be very surprised if Roofe goes up there, he’s surely far more ambitious than that?

L1

ffs.

It's a league where 35 year old Kris Boyd can finish top scorer, maybe Rangers/Celtic could do OK in England, but the rest of the teams who make up the league would struggle in L1.

Fwck me, if you’re going to try and wum at least get some of your information right. Boyd is retired ya plank. he scored 33 goals in 4 seasons at Killie and his best years were again back in 2013.

And you also moved the goalposts didn’t you eh? So now Celtic and Rangers are “ok”?

Bloody hell; I know our football isn’t the best league in the world and I’ve absolutely no disregard for Leeds United but some of the stuff said about our two biggest clubs and their followings are just ludicrous.

<snigger>

You keep moving those goalposts (35 now down to 18) to keep up this notion.

You’ve found something eventually.

No, I said Kris Boyd, age 35, can be top scorer in the SPL and he was, with 18 goals.

It's there in plain English.
