If we let Lukaku go we need a goalscorer proven inthe prem to prop up Martial and rashford's goal return.

Even if we got goal machine Fernandes, it would be unrealistic to expect him to start banging them in from the off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we played as a more attacking unit I'm confident there'd be enough goals in the squad to get top 4. A top, top striker though I wouldn't turn my nose up at.

The way I think Ole will play I just don't see Lukaku fitting in. I'd be delighted to be wrong if he stayed though. Lukaku isn't a bad player and, for the right team playing to his strengths, I think he'd score a lot of goals.

Inter are still offering their instalment deal, they pay €10m for the first year and then $60m over the next two years. Fack off.

................

I would take that.

If that's their first offer then I wouldn't blame Ed in squeezing a bit more out of them, towards the £75m valuation (in total).

The loan thing doesn't really matter when you consider that a lot of transfer fees are paid in instalments over a few years.

On the striker issue.

Yes we need a replacement. Rashford is not as good as some of our fans think he is. He just isn't. Martial is hit and miss and Greenwood is not yet ready.

If we agree to let them pay it over a longer period then the price should go up, like most long term payment plans. We aren't fackin DFS with 0% finance on our players.

SSN are reporting that Lukaku is 'missing' from United training today.

We should advertise Rojo, Darmian and Jones in a DFS-style summer sale.

That's why I think there could be something in these Ben Yedder links. Think he'd be a shrewd signing as he knows where the goal is, wouldn't cost the earth, and is the profile of player who wouldn't be expected to start every week.

Yep, I think that there is something in them as well. I think that he made reference to the interest a few weeks back. Seems like a good signing in terms of bringing goals, experience and looks to have the ability to link play better than Lukaku. He is at an age where he could perhaps be the main man for a few seasons, before taking more of a squad role as the kids (hopefully) come through.

Indeed. Ed should have the transfer offer (which triggers the release clause) ready to go for Ben Yedder the minute the Lukaku deal has been agreed.

It would be typical for him to dither about for a few weeks getting that done after Lukaku has already gone.

I've also read this today about Pogba-

Could he be 'doing a Rooney'? If so, and he stays, he'll need to pull his finger out in the new season!

How does he think he has earned a new contract though, madness.

Because he has probably seen what Sanchez is on.

Also not worth his contract. Doesn't mean Pogba gets a raise, he's not been worth his own yet.

Not saying for one moment he has but he could look at it this way...

Top scorer last season
Top creator
Most marketable player
Realised that not many other clubs will pay his fee and wages so now 'wants to stay'.

Who knows. If it is true though he needs to do much more next season IMO.

I would rather sell him now tbh, even more so if he starts demanding a new contract. Hopefully we don't fully price him out of a move. Any level of profit on what we payed would be a bonus imo. £100m I would sell. Get some signings wrapped up to the point that they just need signing off, then lower the Pogba fee to get the sale though.

Sell him. Don't trust him or his agent. Don't want players here who want to be elsewhere.

I agree with the sentiment that if he doesn't want to be at United we should sell him.

However, we are short of really good players at the moment and if he knuckles down then I'm willing to (just about) give him the benefit of the doubt. The 'if' in that sentence is huge though.

Ah yes VC. There's more than one 'doing a Rooney' isn't there!
