What I'm hoping happens is we can't reach an agreement with Dybala so we turn our attention to midfield and sign Fernandes.

I'm reaching here I know but.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fernandes & Mandzukic would make a lot of sense to me, hence it won’t happen.

What’s the latest rumours on Free Bakker? Really need to get him signed ASAP and get his distribution flaming into the midfield.

Saw a few stories that we're fed up with our name used to drum up interest in certain players and fernandes is one.... And we've no interest at all

Which would leave no midfield targets that we know about... Bar Longstaff maybe

Yeah we don't usually do business when there's clear logic involved.

I've seen a few stories like that but some of them do seem to be in agreement that we do have some interest but it's not serious unfortunately.

It's a strange one. Why get rid of a 26 year old immobile striker for a less prolific, less mobile, older forward? Mandzukic is a very good footballer but I look at the current United squad and I don't see that many goals in it. And Mandzukic won't change that dramatically imo. Much as Rashford is a talented player, his biggest weakness is composure in front of goal. I still don't see him getting 20+ league goals a season. And someone needs to, if we're to be anything better than battling for top 4

He is 33 and I don't think will be able to press from the front which is what OGS seems to want us to do.

I get all the sentiment and how good he was seven years ago etc. but I don't see how he fits for what we want.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s brilliant in the press, VC. It’s a recognized asset of his
----------------------------------------------------------------------

At 33. You think that is sustainable? I don't.

For the price being floated around it would be a very good bit of business

-----------------------------------------------

That's why signing a prolific wide man would've been a good move because I don't see Ole bringing in an established striker who's approaching/in his peak at the moment with Rashford around.

Nicolas Pepe would've been ideal. Ziyech for quite a bit less would've been a good option too.

Yes he's on the wane slightly but I think this makes perfect sense for United. Capable of playing out wide or up front and is a winner. I want him at Spurs.

I’m more concerned that Martial has been starting through the middle than Rashford’s composure in front of goal.

Hopefully this idea gets scrapped soon.

Yep, hopefully so. I’m hoping Ole’s been trialling it to test his suitability rather than it actually being a plan for the season. He’s wasted up front and Rashford is wasted out wide.

I've noticed a few on the board who seem to really love Martial playing through the middle. Rosso, for one, is a big fan.

Mandzukic is very, very comfortably more mobile than Lukaku. They’re incomparable in that regard.

Paulo Dybala is set to return to Juventus training tomorrow, even if it could be a temporary return. Negotiations with #mufc are still very hot #mulive [

The Italian Journos are saying something different, Agresti is also somebody who knows Sarri. As far as Juve goes he's far more reliable, the same way Duncan Castles only ever has any real credibility with Mourinho news.

I suspect Inter will make another offer now though for Lukaku and Mandzukic may still arrive.

Conte's desperate for him and we need to take stock of what's best for us and perhaps accept a lower offer than what we wanted.

posted on 4/8/19

Apparently the Mandzukic signing is dependent on Lukaku going to Juve.

posted on 4/8/19

Also the same Journo at the Telegraph reporting we have walked away from Dybala transfer (James Ducker) has this to say two hours before we signed Maguire.

“Back on today ... and sadly the window is still open. My understanding is #MUFC's highest offer to date for Maguire is still £70m plus add ons. #NUFC also still want £50m for Longstaff so there's another impasse. Dybala/Lukaku situation ongoing. Numerous hurdles to cross there”
