Liverpool's fixture pile-up
4 December Everton (h)
7 December Bournemouth (a)
10 December Salzburg (a) Champions League
14 December Watford (h)
16 December Week of League Cup quarter-finals
18 December TBC (Qatar) Club World Cup
21 December TBC (Qatar) Club World Cup
26 December Leicester City (a)
29 December Wolves (h)
2 January Sheffield United (h)
6 January Week of League Cup semi-final first-leg ties
11 January Tottenham (a)
19 January Manchester United (h)

When do we fit it in? Imagine playing two teams over two days as the other team will be travelling to qatar. How can you play without your manager being there?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Somewhere in November?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would make sense but they never help the teams so I doubt it will be allowed

As stated above they’ve known this was going to happen for a while but they are not interested in looking after English teams.

Most other leagues give their teams a break if they are playing a big game. I’m sure Ajax it was hot the week off before their semi final but could be wrong

I read you could play it the day the semis are meant to be played.

There’s a 5 day break between the 21st and 26th December. Can we not for another game in there?

Go for it, anythings better than Corrie!

If we moved the city game forward to the Saturday we could maybe do it on the Monday before the players go off on the international break.

The whole fixture list for that weekend was put back a week. German and Spanish leagues regularly have fixtures moved to accommodate later European fixtures.

It’s a tricky one I don’t want a Christmas break as I love football over the festive period and wouldn’t know what to do without it but the players are athletes now and they need rest. Our league is the toughest in the world and we do ourselves no favours. Maybe a January break

I would prefer us withdrawing from the competition. This trophy is a big trophy for the likes of Arsenal and United.

We have eyes on bigger prizes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And they have both won the premiership

Premier league*

Football only started in 1992 you know.

June 2003 if you don't mind!

Tell them to go do one.

The point of being able to field a mixed team is nobody is sure how muck you will go.

is that a bigger prize?
i seem to remember the last time you were in it the ref robbed you blind and you lost to some sh!t brazilian team.
two teams on the same day would be amazing if you won both.
i thought this world club cup crap would hurt your pl chances to some degree.

IMO the WCC is more prestigious than the league cup so we should be going there and trying to win it. Sod the the EFL, they lose valuable income from us not being there. We all know it's us everyone wants to watch, that's why the majority of our games are televised, so we can pi$$ on there chips by not playing.

The Football League will get paid regardless of whether Liverpool play or not.

In 2006/2017 Liverpool and Arsenal were scheduled to play the league cup Quarter final in December but it got postponed due to bad weather so they rescheduled the fixture beginning of January. It would make sense for them to reschedule the Quarter final between Liverpool and Aston Villa this time round for the 6th or 7th January, not certain what dates the semi final first legs are supposed to be though!

I think it's a disgrace that the efl are asking Liverpool to basically lose the game

at least give the kids the honour of playing for jurgen.

so imo tell them to go do one.

Liverpool are required by fifa to play a fixture which takes precedence over the league cup.

it's a fixture we ought to be easily resting 4/5 players in to.play the final the weekend after.

the premier league has rescheduled the league game as they know this has to be done.

so the efl was us to leave players behind (some) and go to villa park with our u23 manager.

come on.... I'd rather tell them the go jump in a lake on principle.

I'd guarantee city would not be asked to do it.

Teams in other nations get help from their FA/League when it comes to important matches. The mentality from England is backwards in this regard. Let's not forget this had been going on for decades.

Its a "battle" between the EFL who don't actually care one jot about the premier league or european competition, the FA who run the premier league, who don't give a damn about europe and FIFA who want to run their own competition which annoys UEFA.

the world and thier mother have known the dates for the world club championship for months.

If LFC actually wanted to win the league cup we would be drawn away to man city or Chelsea in round 1 using the old warm ball trick. We've tried our absolutel best to get out of the comp twice and each time a combination of sensational kids and utter incompetent opponents have meant we are in the QF and suddenly the EFL have to wake up and go... oh... there's a foreign competition?

I say bin off the thing and let villa to through to the SF.

villa luckily don't need the gate from this game they've got so its not affecting a small club badly here.

Its very clear that we have a prior fixture. If they are not willing to reschedule due to the timing of all of the fixtures that pile up then F them. show them up for the amateur hour competition hosts they are.

To be fair their B/C Team daftied Arsenal so no reason why they can't do the same to Villa.

Its a great idea.

If there is no other option I still don't want us to pull out the league cup.

Send Klopp and the senior squad to Qatar. Play the reserves against Villa as if its a reserve game and with the reserves manager in charge of a team of reserves, U23s and kids.

If they win they might even be allowed to play the next game too.

Liverpool to win the Carabao Cup with 11 inelligible players

posted on 1/11/19

hang on a while here.

a) klopp has to fly with team to qatar with a 23 man squad.

aka:
Alisson, adrian, kelleher, TAA, gomez, Lovren, Matip, VVD, Robertson, Fabinho, Ox, Henderson, Milner, Wijanldum, Keita, Lallana, Origi, Mane, Salah, firmino, Shaqiri, brewster(not fit but hey)

So thats the entire first team right. maybe you can make a case to send lonergan to world club cup and leave kelleher behind.

there nobody that can be left behind to play this tie.

b) that leaves neil critchley and u23s.

Team:

Kelleher
Williams Ki (u17 world cup is over) Van Den berg Larouci
kane chirivella Dixon-bonner
Elliot christie-davies Jones

Thats at best.

The issue is fairness here. why should there be "no other option" Why shoudl a team of absolute kids (some 16-18) have to play a senior aston villa side away from home on a set date cos of preset fixtures.

If it was put to a manc side there would be absolute uproar.
