Crunch time for AR

Cant see us bringing somebody in who will play straight away. Rightly or wrongly, bielsa seems to want players to get used to the methods before they play. Leaves our January options very limited. The bigger worry for me is if nkeitah is recalled because even if we get another striker in they will be in the same boat as 2nd man behind bamford but still unfamiliar with the system. If bamford were to get injured in that scenario it could be a big problem.

Phil Hay indicating Nketiah going the same way.

Need to bring a few players in minimum.

If Clarke and Eddie (as is seemingly likely leave) wgat dies it leave us on bench in Jan, choices between - Gotts, Stevens, Meslier, Douglas, Struijk and still regaining fitness Roberts and Shackleton. 4 of those have less than 20 mins or so of first team action between them, another is seemingly last choice in position he was signed for.

This Jan is make or break.

Cal was no virus, he drank too many red bulls and suffered a seizure from it.

Of course the fans will now expect 1 in.

Not convinced the club will see it like that at all.

Left side Harrison/alioski/Dallas
Right side Pablo/Costa/Stevens

P O'Rourke just tweeting Clarke has gone. Was there any point in that loan back ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
nope. bielsa definitely not interested. eddie too, good. now if we could get someone useful in.

Simple truth about clarke is that he wasnt good enough to make the squad let alone the team most of the time.

Push comes to shove and you have to bring a player off the bench to make an impact who would you choose?

Alioski or Clarke?

It's a no brainer.

Honestly I think we have sold spurs a dud, he is more a mowatt or a white than he is a cook and I think we have managed to sell him before anyone figures that out.

Maybe Mourinho can get something out of him, but I doubt it and think he will het loaned out to a lower down team, maybe not even in this league.

Loan wise I'm happy that this year we brought in white and Costa both of whom are key players.

Personally I think we need another midfield player for the middle of the park, another centreback and a striker.

Dont think we need to replace clarke and that his lack of game time is a clear indication we have options there, however we need another centre midfielder as we have played white there and another centreback cause we played a defense of full backs at times aling with a striker who fits us more than eddie.

3 players and maybe a goalkeeper either as short term cover incase it goes pear shaped with the kiko case.

Would like to know where okane is in term of getting him fit so he can move on.

Wish him no ill will, but we need shot of him.

Maybe get rid of Coyle to fleetwood too.

Both would free up wages further with zero impact on the side (although to be fair I'd image neither is costing us as Fleetwood and insurance are probably paying them right now...)

Oh and loan wise I'm more than happy with them this year as costa, white and Harrison have all been fantastic and are vital to us. Think that overall we have upped our loan game

Alioski won’t be on bench due to Pablo’s injury.

Bielsa spends hours each day pounding his tactics into his players. They have been doing it since pre-season - and many since the year before.

A new player mid-season does not have that mentality and is not necessarily aware of what it entails.

I understand why Bielsa is reticent to "strengthen" mid-season.

But we do need to lose Eddie and bring in someone who will do exactly what Bamford does off the bench

Then he brings Douglas on and moves dallas into midfield.

Which again is a better move than bringing on Clarke

I think you're missing the point Matty, Clarke is an attacking option, Douglas is not and is last choice for his own position.

The point is we have a threadbare bench offering very few if any options to turn a game around if and when Clarke and Eddie leave.

Clarke has done nothing go to be fair. Hopefully for him he gets games at Spurs but I’m doubtful he will break through there this season.

No Jonty, it's you who dosent get the point.

1) Douglas isint the attacking option in that scenario, Dallas is. An option that has shown he can do it when he has played there under bielsa, something that despite a season and a half under bielsa clarke has not shown an ability to do on anywhere close to a consistent level

2) I've already addressed your second point in regards to strengthen the squad if those players leave by saying we need to bring in three players.

An injury to Bamford and there's nobody really with a good attacking threat to take his place. I don't think Roberts is at the same level as either.

....but we do need another striker. I don’t think we can rely on Roberts to stay fit.

I’d like to see Edmundson get his chance though.

Matty, Dallas is not a forward or a winger who can go past people, Clarke is and can.

When you're 1-0 down in a must win match, bringing Douglas on to push Dallas into midfield is really not a realistic turnaround option.

Honestly, at the moment I wouldnt rely on Robert's not to injure himself stepping out of the shower...

For what getting out of this league is worth, and for what it would mean I dont think you should rely on either of those options.

I think this far into a season if edmondson was ready he would be featuring in the squad far more than he is now.

If bamford picked up an injury today that kept him out for a couple of months would you think, it's right, we have Robert's and edmondson.

Nah, not evena little.

I'd spend the entire time scared when anyone breathed in Roberts direction.

Think we need another striker who unlike eddie is able to help us see games out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
When was the last time Clarke did a better job in midfield than Dallas did?

Dallas is a solid player who does well when he goes in midfield, I dont for a second see him as a player who cant and dosent go past people as he does it all the time for us, I literally don't know what you are on about when you say he cant or dosent do that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
And this is the big problem, if Clarke and Eddie go, then it's hope and pray time that Bamford doesn't get injured or lose goal scoring form again as all we'll have left in reserve is Roberts who is not match fit and can't seem to last more than half a dozen matches without picking up an injury.

We've seen from past the Bielsa rarely gives youth players a chance unless really pushed, maybe it would open door for Edmondson, but it highlights how woefully short of players we are compared to rivals if that is how we're going to play it.
