DPL vs Sunderland

Good comments, Donaldo; my brain says we will lose, but my heart wants otherwise. I'll wait until I see the team before giving a prediction. With Sadlier out, I do not want Bingham in there at the start, but who do I want? I'd love to see Matty start, but in the interview he almost admitted he was not fully fit. However he could start and then be substituted.
It is interesting that managers have lost against the Rovers and been fired, but Sunderland's manager was under stress, and then beat the Rovers and look what happened to their results since then! What an effect we have on mangers!
"see" you all tomorrow.

cannot see us scoring so 2-0 to sunderland

Guna get bullied all game, just like every time we play these. Dodgy decisions, game changing ones the ref didn't see, if we can overcome this, then we could sneak a win.
Not looking forward to this to be honest.

I'll go half as crazy as Yorkshire Lad with a prediction of 1-1 with Taylor to score.

It was rather scrappy in the first half when we moved the ball well but could not control it when it mattered. Ennis usually glides past opponents, but today he did not seem to be completely fit which was a pity. Taylor could have capitalised on the superiority we enjoyed in possession, but he had a real off day, often breaking through only to fall over his own feet.
Gomez played better than I have ever seen before and of course Anderson, Wright and Dieng truly earned the clean sheet.

Thanks. Donaldo; it was frustrating not to be able to watch it on iFollow. I must admit the Rovers' and Free Press' versions of the first half were a little more positive for the Rovers than the Beeb or yours, but I expect "local pride"!
I look forward to the extended highlights, and it seems Little Azza and I were the only ones to forecast a draw.

Only 6 subs and a unique line up. Strange but curiously effective if it's only a point you are after. It's either an astute manager or a desperate one. Hope it's the former.

Can't.wait for this season to end

Lanza: There are a number of reasons for being more optimistic. Of the 9 teams above us we have played 7 away.

Despite only retaining 3 of the players who lost the play-off to Charlton, we have rebuilt and have lost none of the useful players with which we started the season; the longer they play together surely the better they will get.

A year ago we were on 46 points in 7th position, 11 points below the team in first place and 1 point off the play-offs.

It is much tighter this year and we are 9 points off the lead.

So, all things considered, we are doing better than average, yet obviously the play-offs and promotion are the yardstick which govern our ambitions.

So, on this basis, we ought to have a good chance of improving our position and an outside chance of getting into the top six. If we can usefully strengthen, then surely our odds will improve.

So I look forward to what lies ahead in the next three months or so.

Well done to the 2 optimists who went for the draw. Most of the rest of us will have been pleasantly surprised that we were wrong.

It seems like Charlton are now after Idah. The only sliver of comfort you can get from this is whether there is a guarantee of regular first team football with a Championship club... possibly not.

Got to be said that our two CBs were amazing, then again the whole back line were brilliant.
Just a pity Tayler has got a 10 bob head 😂

Devante Cole

posted on 27/1/20

I think we can no longer expect Adam Idah to come to us. The Norwich manager said after being forced to leave him out of the weekend squad 'So harsh on Adam but he is in my thoughts and we have created some space for him to allow Dennis Srbeny to go. At 18, he is the third striker at Premier League level. Not a bad position to be in. I am happy with him. He is a great lad.'

posted on 27/1/20

Cole has played a fair number of games for the “Well”, often subbed off in the second half; his most successful recent spell was at Fleetwood where he scored goals and said he was happy. Obviously Wigan didn’t suit him and he did not seem to do a great deal on his Burton loan. However DM does seem able to get the best out of players and he has obviously got ability which we must hope can be suitably shaped.
