Do you not hear many jokes living in Trumpland ?

You can criticise all you like Cinci, but doesn't mean you are right. It is very easy to be critical from the outside looking in.

especially in hindsight.

Season will be cancelled. No Europa winners, no promotion, no relegation - it will be as if it never happened.

Liverpool will be allowed to keep the title if they win it before the big closedown.

Trump is on the same page as wolfie. 👍

Both like working with a small team, and don't listen to other people's opinions.

I disagree with just about everything you have said.

First off what has gone before is irrelevant to today's Wolves, we are the seventh best side in the country(arguably fifth as of this moment in time) and i expect performances and tactics to match that. I don't care if we were crap and had to suffer Dave Edwards five years ago, it has no bearing on today at all.

Nuno isn't happy with the squad, hence he asked we go strong in the transfer window and said it was clear we needed players. It wasn't part of the plan to move on Cutrone and Vallejo for example unless you now think he believes he made a mistake and didn't need those reinforcements at all which of course would be nonsense.

Nuno doesn't have faith in fringe players, hence he rarely changes the line up and we cannot change the side without disruption as poor results when doing so highlight. We have nobody to do Jimenez job for a start so he has to play through slumps in form as have many others this season and we pay for it. Now we are seeing players looking leggy, Moutinho for one would benefit massively from some rotation but we don't have that option thanks to a poor two transfer windows.

As for yesterday, i have no problem with off days, what i have a problem with are negative set ups against poor sides when there is no need to do so. I said before the game yesterday we would finish 3-4-3 because it was obvious that was how this would play out, we do not threaten when we set up 3-5-2 in general, 2 wins in 11 that way league wise this term. So Nuno deserves plenty of criticism when he makes errors, yesterday was without question an error and i suspect he recognizes that himself now.

And considering the amount of games we have played this season do you think perhaps there are ways we could have eased the pressure? I have a few ideas, one of them is a few extra players in the squad, Nuno had the same idea, alas the club let us and him down.

When the dust settles will this have been a bad season? Of course not and it could still be a great season but i fear when all is said and done the overwhelming feeling will be one of 'What could have been'. Time will tell.

Why bring Dave Edwards into this? A decent guy who was someone the club will always welcome back. To me someone who epitomises our standards far more than many who have come and gone.

Anyway, I have an elderly relation in the US who is a Wolves fan, (and I think he played for various clubs in thd UK such as Walsall). He sends me emails after Wolves games, usually complaining.) I got one yesterday about the Brighton game. I do think some people aren’t happy unless they’re moaning..

Dave held us back for 10 years, wasn’t his fault though, we need to blame Mick for that. Of course, we couldn’t see it at the time.

Then along came Ruben

Cinci have read your argument. And it all sounds so easy. We need backup for Jiminez, we need someone for Moutinho to rest etc.

But as always you fail to see the bigger picture. First of all finding a replacement for Jiminez, or Moutihno etc is easier said than done.

I'm sure if we were willing to spend over the odds and massively inflate our wage bill, we might be able to bring in some useful players, but that wouldn't be smart business, and would certainly upset the dressing room.

Wolves have gone about their business, in a reasoned and calculated manner, they have spent some pretty big money bringing in young and talented players, that can be moulded and shaped into Nuno's style and more importantly fit into the teams ethos.

You have this idea that spending money is all you need to do, bit Villa are on the verge of relegation, after spending over 100 million, and have literally nothing to show for it.

Cinci , I know you are a good guy, and we all want the same thing. But you really need to see the things that have put Wolves into this position, and trust Wolves are following a long term plan to achieve that.

Which I whole heartedly support.

Believe me Amiga I am not for throwing money about just for the sake of it and have no issue with a smaller squad.

But we have found ourselves beyond that, we have the money and have tried to spend it but have failed to achieve our goals. Granted not much you can do about Cutrone, it didn't work out which is unfortunate but still, the minimum is to have options you know you can rely on and we simply don't have that.

DJ said it best when he said we have a squad this small by accident rather than design.

posted on 10/3/20

I think the squad is small by design. With the emphasis on the long term, with the signing of quality youth.

You can't mention backup for Jiminez and Moutihno, without spending a lot of money, and that is presuming they would want to come, and play second fiddle on the bench.

You need to think it through, the reality is Wolves and Nuno have so far done a tremendous job.

posted on 10/3/20

No doubt the overall job has been fantastic.

But like I said before, we had Cutrone and Vallejo and the intention was they would be here all season, we tried to add other players as well so no doubt the squad was supposed to be bigger than it is. Nuno even said pre window that it was clear we needed players.

A small squad is great but having two more players wouldn't suddenly make it a big squad anyway. I think most would agree Jimenez is a big part of how we play but yet we don't have a single option capable of filling in for him, even as half the player, that is crazy.

posted on 10/3/20

Wolves are doing business, it will never all go to plan, and there will be hiccups along the way. Cutrone, a perfect example, nobody's fault, just wasn't meant to be.

Wolves are walking a line and doing it extremely well, making a mockery of the money spent by the likes of West Ham and Everton.

You have got to be the most short term supporter on this sight, we need and are being smarter than that.

posted on 10/3/20

I don't think it is fair to call someone 'the most short term support on this sight [sic]' because they think the transfer dealing have been poor in the last two windows. Quite a ridiculous thing to say in fact.

posted on 10/3/20

Agreed. What does that make Nuno then for saying we need to go strong in the window and that it is clear we need players?

posted on 10/3/20

Poor by what standard? Tamwolf.

posted on 10/3/20

By the standard of strengthening the squad? We have tried and failed to do so. Two from the summer are no longer even at the club, that wasn't part of the plan.

posted on 10/3/20

We have signed players, with a long term view. You just refuse to see things in the long term, only the short term.

Hence my short sighted comment.

posted on 10/3/20

You can be pleased with long term business and disappointed in the short term. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Being long sighted and ignoring the short term is probably just as bad as focussing solely on the short term. You can get fixated on a future that never materialises as you fail to be proactive in the present.

Yes our short term goal was to be promoted and challenging for Europe in six years. We are well ahead of that plan too. Yet fans still complain.

Six years isn't a short term goal. I guess as we have achieved that we can just do nothing to improve us immediately for the next four years then.

If you don't strive to continually improve you stand still or go backwards. Promising jam tomorrow is exactly what saw us in League One not too long ago. Saw us lose players like Sako and Afobe just as we looked like we were starting to build something.

The short term is just as important as the long term. Ignore it and you go nowhere.
