Am I the only one that thinks Hearts are being a bit opportunistic here?

They have a good few players on decent money (they gave Naismith a 4 year deal ffs...) and they are in serious threat of relegation.

I am sure they never factored in relegation as a possible outcome when they budgeted for this season.

Their offer of a 50% wage cut or the exit door seems like a win win for them.

And its all coronavirus' fault.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They won't be the last club to do it.
I'll take any opportunity criticise budge but this is just an attempt to help the club survive until they can get income again
Plenty will run out of money next week when wages and hmrc payments are due.

I think so

one week in and they are buggered already?

nah.

hearts are a shambles man, she seemed good initially but the longer its gone on the more inept she has shown herself to be.

A bigger question of Hearts should be asked as to where they spent all the fans and investors money.

All seems to have gone.

US talking about giving every person betwen $800 and $1000.

Said it at the time.
She got lucky in that her original business partner was much smarter and made them both a pile of money.
She then thought she was a tycoon and her who took over.
There's very little behind the bluster.

So now hearts want the rest of Scottish football to help them when only a few days ago they were threatening legal action due to the leagues being declared as they were.

They can get stuffed now.

Them and rangers have made their bed they can lie in it.

Where have they asked anyone else to help them.

Clearly they've wasted money but it seems to me that they are doing what they can themselves to sustain the business.

Others will follow. Of that I have no doubt.

If season ticket money doesn't come in until 2021 for arguments sake you have to wonder who other than Celtic could operate at full cost. I don't think any club could and some if not a few will fold.

They will simply run out of cash and we don't have a super rich EPL to sustain any club. We're as broke as it gets. I imagine Rangers potential new investor will be getting wined, dined and 69'd right now.

With nothing coming in, no prize money being dished out, no season books on sale, court cases galore, no merchandise to wear next season and running at a huge loss I would say Rangers are at risk more than any other club during this.

I now have clicked why they want a null & void situation, but that said you cannot have you cake and eat it.

They want null & void but still want the prize money for their league placing...eh what placing its null & void

Daft disnae begin to cover it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think some payments are being made today, but are minimal based on potentially worst placed positions were all games played.

Well don't see how they can pay out then subsequently decided the season is a bogey.

Despite the medical staff argument I don't see why we are not testing 1st team squads and staff and playing the games behind closed doors. Its a footballers job to play football let them earn their wages and get playing.
Plenty of folk are working all over Scotland, either get on with that or declare the league as is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They could because effectively it's the clubs money. It'll all be about what they decide to do and any compensation payments made which will determine who gets what.

I don't think they can just keep it

Disagree on the testing bit. These precious resources should be targeted at those with symptoms and essential services staff.

The fact that Rogic and Arazani have been let go home to Australia would indicate they don't expect any closed door games in the near future

I wonder if the league said no points deductions for admin during the crisis how many would jump at the chance?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Any club declaring admin before Mar 31 gets a 15 point deduction this season. After than and it's next season.

So if Rangers, for example, did it next week they would have the deduction this season.

Of course, if they want this season null and void, it would make sense that the deduction would be applied next season.

Rangers stance in all of this is truly awful.

Imagine using a worldwide pandemic to put a case forward solely to stop your rivals reaching a certain milestone (that's not even unique) whilst demanding the conditions they will want should they not get their way and the share of the financial spoils based on current standings?

And an official statement to back it up.

Talk about the audacity and sheer opportunism from the worst environment imaginable.

Despicable stuff really.
