When it was said it was twice I just thought it was the 2 separate journeys there and back in a Frodo Baggins type of thing.

Disgrace that shes done this

She can't get back from this ...it was a monumental fck up

Why would you listen to her now ? She's lost the position she had in people's eyes

Don't get me wrong, Mags, she should go, 100%.

However, this pandemic was not of any government's making outside of China so people will rightly focus on important stuff come vote time. That someone in a leadership position was a pr.ck? Meh, happens every day and many are. That Sturgeon didn't act immediately? Might be the right thing, maybe not, but it will be forgotten relative to the economy and getting life back to some normality. Plenty cold war stuff that was more of a risk since ww2.

A long way to go. Lots of twists & turns. Don't trust gov or politicos on much. Certainly don't trust some bloke from Yorkshire with a red rosette.

Sure she misjudged it badly
---------------------
She is the one advising the government on the life and death importance of such actions. Absolutely unacceptable. For sturgeon to all but excuse it, keep calm and carry on, highlights exactly I hold so many politicians in utter disdain.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’d hardly say she excused it. No idea how many times she said it was wrong, and did not condone it. Sturgeon I don’t think looked at her once during the whole conference.

She’ll probably go after this has all quietened down.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This.

Might as well say you're switching your vote becausze of Salmond.

Or some other philanderer.

Or expense fiddler.

etc.

There but for the grace etc.

What matters is other stuff. This is a temporary diversion.

People are getting all rosettey on here
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the biggest issue we have faced since WW2. Reputations will be made and lost and quite rightly.

If Nicola doesn't get rid, it strongly implies that the government measures are bogus. I would not trust her on anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Imagine folk not doing what they said they would do...

The CMO has made a roaring ar5e of this. For some reason, a £30 fine would make some feel better.

I don’t know about how good she is in her role, but someone who’s worked closely with her for a number of years values her take on the medical science. If that’s ultimately in the best interests of our country, I’ll go with it just now. In the meantime, start getting her successor up to speed ready to take over when she makes that decision.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree but to repeat my point earlier....If we don't have somebody ready to step in immediately we are negligent.
If Calderwood gets CV and become seriously ill (very possible given her life choices), are we totally fooked.

The whole thing stinks of gross stupidity and incompetence

My guess is they wheel in Leitch? After one interview on BBC breakfast you could see their eyes light up that they'd found a star in the making and he's been wheeled out regularly since. Know nothing about him but he's obviously very viewer friendly.

I might take me chances on him. Purely on the basis that he is the only current party leader not yet proven to be out of his depth

BTW, when Police Scotland were asked today how many penalty charges they'd dished out today they said, "Nun, but we moved some kids on."

Mags-I’ve no doubt we have someone who can step up. But if they were as good as the current CMO, why are they only the deputy (you just want to make a comment about you being a sheriff here, don’t you?! )

Perhaps now isn’t the time to just fire someone into that position-time will tell. If, behind the scenes, she’s doing a more than competent job and is better positioned than the next best person, then perhaps that’s the view that’s being taken. Time will tell.

Mags I have eaten at some honest to god top places, a wee restaurant in the Old town of Luxembourg being a particular favourite, no menu just asked do you want Lobster or Steak unreal the food but give me a scampi fry or a rustlers and I wont complain

I hate food snobs, there is a time and place for silver service and a time when a fish supper will be better.

I have young weans offer them a top side of marinated veal or venison or a chicken nugget which do you think they go for

Food is what you like, why be a nobber about it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Daft story but true. I wouldn't say we are foodies but we appreciate fine things. 19 or so years ago we holiday'd in California. Stayed a week in Napa valley in a wee town called Yountville. Did the valley steam train, coast, 5am balloon flight and all the usual sheidt. Good restaurants all around but they all were a drive so easy on the bev. There was a great looking restaurant in the town. Unassuming but local. We phoned it up but they said all they had that week was a table at 5pm which seemed a bit pash so we declined.

We moved onto Carmel and stayed there a week then went home. I was browsing the mags (oooer) in SFO on the journey home when I picked up 'The 100 Best Restaurants in the World'. Yup, donkey's ears. The French Laundry, Yountville #1!

No idea what it cost then but I'm looking at the website right there and on the 6 course menu, the supplement, yes, just the supplement for choosing mac'n'cheese for one of the 6 courses is $125!

Just one of many stories that holiday.

She has been given an official warning by the police.

I kinda agree with call sign though if she is the best person to give medical advice then she should stay in post.

Disruption in medical planning could cost thousands of lives. Perhaps don't cut our nose off to spite our faces
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's my take on it as well. Sure she misjudged it badly but if she's the best for the job then she has to stay.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
She's a fvckin phannie doctor.
Far from the most qualified. Alternatives are not pro indy so we get that clown instead.

A fekin groinocologist? That really is beyond belief.
Next time the lights go out I'll call a plumber.

She’s the CMO. We also have scientific advisers helping out. They’ll be more in the category you stated.
