This is what you said earlier:

I don't see a vaccine anytime soon, how long have has there been a vaccine for the common cold?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I don't see a vaccine anytime soon, I don't think they have one, if they did there would be better medication out than that is available at the moment, just an opinion obviously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You have lost me. Numerous people have already told you the reason there isn't a cold vaccine, too much money is generated from cold remedies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you're saying that one company wouldn't put out a better remedy to make money?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Waiting for reply!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Some remedies are better than others, some remedies are cheaper than others, people have their own opinions on remedies, it is how any market works.

Another reality is that many people wouldn't spend the money for a cold vaccine because having a cold isn't any real hardship. Many don't even bother with a flu vaccine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you go from saying "too much money is generated from cold remedies" to "many people wouldn't spend the money for a cold vaccine"..... Sit down mate
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Eh?!? Folks are reactive not preemptive. I figured that would be easy to understand. WHEN people get colds they then want to do something to ease the congestion and so on. Amazed this whole conversation has gone over your head to be honest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought I told you to sit down!, and yet you still carry on talking sh@t that isn't relative to the point. A vaccine would be snapped up by everyone, that makes it VERY profitable.

A cold vaccine wouldn't be snapped up by everyone and i imagine the common cold is actually multiple different viruses not worth throwing money at anyway when they already make billions from cold remedies.

" A cold vaccine wouldn't be snapped up by everyone" Why would it not be then?
If there's one vaccine to cover all strains why would people continue with the run of the mill remedies that are available at present?

Fack me. Why doesn't everybody get a flu shot every year? People are not bright and put things off until they are a problem, hence crap remedies once a cold comes along. But that is pretty irrelevant given the real problem would be trying to create a cold vaccine in the first place given how many varieties likely exist. And then finally figure why companies would spend so much time on something they already make a fortune out of. All of that thrown together is why a cold vaccine doesn't exist.

Thousands of children are born every single day, that's going to bring a large amount of regular money into these companies, so you're saying a one cover vaccine would be of no interest to them in any way?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am saying they would make more money from remedies than a vaccine each year. Presumably each year they would have to alter a cold vaccine just as they do a flu vaccine which would cost plenty also.

I'm not sure that influenza mutates that regular, also there are many different companies out there providing so-called remedies, I'm sure one would take the opportunity to take the biggest slice, No?

That's it.

You can't have one vaccine to cover all strains, that's not how it works. Otherwise you'd just have one flu vaccine.

There are typically 1 or 2 different flu strains every year, which rotate so there are vaccines available for each. The just ramp up production as needed.

No one is going to the effort of making 100+ vaccines for the common cold. Apart from the vast amount of work, vaccines often make the patient slightly ill. It's how you get immunity. With a cold that would probably be as bad as getting it non-vaccinated anyway.

The reason most people don't get the flu jab is cos there's no sense making yourself ill if it definitely won't be worse than catching the virus.

Read up on something called the Phoebus cartel. Can anyone say it's not happening in the medical industry?

Even if a vaccine was possible, its possible they'd never let us have it.

You're comparing the useful life of an incandescent light bulb to a world cure...

The positive marketing of creating such a vaccine would be invaluable to the company that succeeds i'd say...over what money they could make from it...which would still be a staggering amount anyway

I'm comparing the concept. That industry insiders could collude in the name of profit and be able to maintain plausible deniability.

---------------------------------------------------------------
This is arguably incorrect. I'm no expert but I think the opposite might be the case. Instead of one company running away with it, everyone can keep sailing smoothly by producing medication that caters for symptoms.

Im not saying its true or not but fact is a cure/vaccine for common cold would really damage the companies. Common cold medicine industry must be worth billions and billions, maybe trillions and theoretically, this would be reduced to just millions or billions if there was a straight up cure/vaccine. You're eliminating thousands of medicines and replacing it with one medicine.

Stop saying there could be a vaccine for the common cold. It's ridiculous.
