He had to go because he wasn’t backed.
He wouldn’t have turned it around.

Daniel Levy is the problem.

Redknapp: "I want Cahill and Tevez"
Levy: "How about Nelson and Saha?"

AVB: "I want Moutinho or Oscar"
Levy: "Tom Carroll is coming through the ranks though"

Poch: "I want a talented winger in early. Mane is available"
Levy: "What about Sissoko on deadline day"

If poch had stayed we'd be in a much better place. Lo Celso and Ndombele would be key to our play and I imagine we'd improve as the season went on.

If Hassunhutl can come back from being in the relegation zone and losing 9-0 then I don't see why poch couldn't have.

Very much like player's, manager's can go through bad spells but still be excellent manager's.

Wouldn't be shocked if he replaces Jose. Although not sure he'd want to come back.

Fair criticism. We also put in a disrespectful £14m bid for Zaha and I’m sure £30m would have definitely obtained him

Poch was great at times but we have moved on now so no point dwelling on him. Get behind Jose and team. COYS!

The smarter fans understood that Poch was doing the best he could with a squad that was on a downward slope, and that he himself wanted to make changes but didn't get the support.

I think he could have turned the form around too, or at least made it better than it was.

At the end of the day I'd rather struggle to win things with Poch due to him not being backed, than anyone else struggling under the same conditions.

I would take Poch back in a heartbeat. In fact i would be dreaming if he came back!!

He needs to be backed though. He is progressive and gets the team playing dynamic quick football.

Jose is finished 100%. The comment on this or another post about UTD was spot on

Poch gave several moments that gave me highs I’d never experienced from football. Those champions league wins against City and Ajax, the Chelsea game where we saw so much fight from our team, that speech he gave at the last game at the lane. Nothing has compared to these type of moments. Give me those over the league cup win all those years ago. I didn’t feel anywhere near the sense of pride and achievement in my team winning the league cup under Ramos. We traded that all for Mourinho. F’ing ludicrous. The game is about glory but it’s also about feeling a connection to your team and enjoyment. I don’t enjoy one thing about this team under Mourinho. The only part I’ve enjoyed was when we were locked down and didn’t have to tolerate sheet like not having a single shot on target against the likes of Bournemouth. Potentially winning a league cup next year doesn’t do it for me if we have to tolerate this bollocccks

Some are saying that Poch wouldn't have turned things around (which I disagree with)....but has Jose turned things around ?!

Pochettino deserved Ferguson-esque rebuild and backing. He took us from a Hyundai to 4-Series with barely any budget and Levy wanted him to win the Grand Prix with it.

Also, the stadium although has an impact is not the reason for the downfall. We did not need £500m+ going on players but our inability to back managers with say an extra £100m on 2-3 players at the peak of a squads cycle has always been detrimental.

“ If you could go back and never build the new stadium, instead expanding the old one, would you?”

No we needed a new stadium. Our transfer business has been poor/same for a over a decade.

If you could go back and never build the new stadium, instead expanding the old one, would you? Every day I'm so grateful we never moved. For one thing the extra money it would have cost that would have impacted transfers, and secondly of you have history in your old stadium I think it's a mistake to leave. The only cEnglish club Ive seen benefit from a new stadium are Man City, because they have zero history in their old place.
Agreed with Tarirco, Porch wouldn't have turned it around, because the problems with backing would still be there today.

Na, the stadium is great and sets us up long term as a big club.

The complete mismanagement by levy over the last few years as all he focussed on was the stadium is the issue.

If we'd had owners who could see the bigger picture they wouldn't have cut off funding for players whilst investing in the stadium.

Poch worked wonders and took you as close to glory as anyone would be able to, given the way the club is run, in my opinion.

Whether he'd have turned the situation around, we'll never know - but I fear for Spurs fans, that without a major change in the way the club is run, this situation won't get any better.

There’s a balance to it right, did we need to pump loads of money into building a retractable pitch so we could host 1 or 2 NFL games per year? Could have bought a key player or two with that money.

It’s not just 1 or 2 nfl games ( actually 3 ) it’s all the concert, boxing, rugby & anything else levy can get playing on that pitch too.

If it wasn’t for COVID we was going to make huge money this summer.

Wouldn’t change the stadium one bit. It was and is needed.

Superb post

The emotional connection between the fans and poch was something special. That last season at the lane was the best I've ever seen us play by a long way. The champions league run is just an insane achievement from what he took over.

Poch turned us into a big club. He got us to a point where he needed some backing and we could have won the league.

Before Poch I wouldn't have ever dreamed of being in a title race or CL final. Getting 4th was the holy grail. He completely changed the mentality of the club.

And within 6 months Jose has thrown it all away and got us back to feeling like we belong in midtable.

Give Mourinho a chance before you come to such conclusions. Give him a summer transfer window, a pre season and at least one full year and then judge him.

Spurs: Finishing outside top four playing Europa League
Levy: "We can't spend without Champions League revenue"

Spurs: Consecutive Champions League football and 2nd in league
Levy: "We don't need to spend. Squad looks good enough"

He is an investor and property developer. London will hold value more than any region in the world which is why Spurs are ranked so highly in worth.

It's like the NY Knicks. Poorly run franchise without a championship for 50+ years but valued top three basically because of them being in New York.

That would normally be a reasonable request for most new managers, but Mourinho does not have a track record of making great (or even good) teams without spending absolute fortunes. Also, it was (and is) clear for all to see, that he is a busted flush.

It was a fantastic CL run and the Ajax moment was superb as was the City one, but at the end of the day, it wasn’t an achievement. Winning nothing isn’t a achievement. Chelsea winning the CL with the Drogba penalty is an achievement. United winning the CL is an achievement. Liverpool’s current trophy haul are achievements. We haven’t achieved anything mate and any Spurs fan that actually agrees with him, is exactly what is wrong with the mentality at this club. Forever a bunch of losers that think getting to a final and losing it is success ridiculous

Mourinho is supposedly a busted flush yet in his last job won two trophies in 2 1/2 years at Manchester United

Your old manager won zero trophies in 5 1/2 years at tottenham

Did you know, in 2016/17 Tottenham were eliminated from the europa league by Gent. Manchester with Jose Mourinho won the Europa league that season.
