I'd actually be very interested to see what the player said if an interviewer asked him what his he thought his best position would be.. or even what his favoured position would be

He needs to be played like he is for France, next to Pogba, so he has more work to do which in turn makes him play better. The only solution is to sell him to us.

Kovacic is our only midfielder suited to the 4-2-3-1.

It is too congested for Kante to play in when in our own half and we we’re in the opposition half both midfielders for some reason are instructed to take up weird positions taking them out the game when we lose the ball.

I do feel however that his form is being overplayed, he was great against palace and was probably our best player in our poor opening games. Last two games he’s been awful though I must admit

He played as a DM for Leicester and in his first season at Chelsea. That’s when he was rated among the best players in the world on his position

For Leicester he played CM, with more of a focus on destroying anything the opposition did, he wasn't a creator but he still got up and down the pitch (not a DM in the Makelele role), they played 442 basically and it was him and Drinkwater most of the time.

Now I don't say this lightly...but I have to agree with Wahl here...I've always said it with Kante...despite the unpopular opinion that it is

But Kante was never a box-to-box or attacking midfielder. He was always a defensive midfielder.

I'm saying, instruct him to play as sitting defensive midfielder since he'd excel in that role if he was asked to play it and we don't need him to do any of the other things he's capable since we have other players in midfield who can fulfil those roles. Let Kante focus on defending and that frees up the rest of the team a lot more and makes us way less vulnerable defensively.

He’s a box to box like Roy Keane was, not going to get hundreds of goals but Marshall’s the midfield. There’s a reason why he played further ahead than Drinkwater, matic and jorgino.

He's not a box to box midfielder though because he's not effective offensively at all and the team would be much more solid if we just told him to focus on defending and let the players in front of him attack.

Kante is an energetic player who can move all over the pitch intercepting, tackling and breaking up play.

The Kante we see at Chelsea today is one who tries to make killer passes and make late runs into the box. He has way more attacking responsibility than he had when he first joined. Jorginho sits the deepest of Chelsea midfielders these days. Is he a DM?

I’d say kovacic is also box to box and he never scored. Same with iniesta and many others over the years
