Some of you are taking some moral high ground implying that he doesn’t care about a handful of OAPs etc.

++

So many fecking idiots....

1). It isn't a handful of OAPs who are vulnerable to complicated Covid illness. It's all of them.(All 12 Million. Count them.)

2). It is also much of the UK population 45 years + who are at risk of long or a complicated Covid illness or even death, if they contracted it.

And to answer mu52’s question as to why so Kant countries are all locking down also if they have the same data that Jim is posting etc that is because it is the safest political decision to make now. It’s very difficult for a government to come out and say ‘it doesn’t matter if 70,000 old people die we have to carry on’ as in 2020 there would be a snowflake driven uprise and outrage yet again. It’s also a safe bet solution for the virus, lock everything down that will contain it for a while. Doesn’t mean it’s the most effective solution.

Personally I agree with those three experts from Stanford Oxford and Harvard (was it?): protect the vulnerable and everything else as normal as possible. Maybe masks and social distancing which probably does little or nothing but I don’t find a huge disruption from that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you protect those millions of vulnerable?

And I don't believe it is political expediency, its on the advice of the scientists. Jims solution didn't work in Sweden.
And it's not doing much for Boris's popularity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m not an expert mu52 but get some smart people and give them a war chest of £100bn I’m sure they could answer you.

My solutions would be paying for private transportation to other regions that have less overrun hospitals so that old people don’t have to share the same areas as everyone else, better use of ICU care, more and better care in care homes and such like.

Is Jim proposing that nothing is done like Sweden or that we protect the vulnerable and everyone else carries on as ‘normal’?

Boris doing the safe option isn’t going to help him enough to be popular and he didn’t do what the public wanted quick enough either so that’s also why.

Luckily the vaccines were made available at a very quick pace as if they had taken 18-48 months; we’d have been truly done and national lockdown just wasn’t feasible over such a time period.

I think you’re the fecking idiot here.

I was paraphrasing Jim’s comments. I’m not saying that it’s only a handful of OAPs.

My point was he’s not literally just saying ‘if they die, they die’ (dolph style) he’s just saying that he believes more people will die in total from the consequences of lockdowns.

Disagree with him on that, fine but some of you were trying to imply that by giving his opinion that he doesn’t care about loss of life when that is exactly what he cares about.

And I’m well aware of the amount of over 65s in the UK hence me posting it earlier.

But carry on with the insults, you’re really making yourself look really good here.

Because I’ll take his opinion on whether he cares about loss of life or not. Rather than taking your fecking idiotic opinion of what someone else thinks.

It’s you’re not your - try not to make basic errors when insulting people.

Protecting the economy is about protecting lives. More lives will be ruined by an economic collapse than by this virus. There’s going to be hundreds of thousand of young people unemployed, and the next cohort of students will be finishing school/colleague/university in a few months, which’ll compound the unemployment issue.

IF things go awry with the vaccine then very difficult decisions will need to be made. Some of the biggest employers in the country are toppling like jenga blocks.

And ultimately, it’s those who have been told for 9 months that the virus is of little/no threat to them who will face the brunt of economic depression. Faced with the prospect of losing their jobs/homes, weighted against the prospect of locking up high risk individuals in their homes for an extended period, a lot of people might be inclined towards the latter.

I don't know how we could somehow protect 12,000000 people. Plus all the ones shielded like my brother in law who has leukaemia and hasn't left the house since March and never will again under Jim's proposals.
It's up to us all, politicians, health workers, scientists to ensure everyone can have a life, not just the ones under 65.
And that's what every government around the world is trying to do.
When I go to the shops there is always plenty with no mask on, they're all right Jack, but I won't be if they give it me

Masks should be worn out of common courtesy if nothing else.

Bollox! Quoting ridiculous figures that the media are banging out !!

You should quote the amount of deaths by Covid alone not the media scaremongering numbers reporting deaths wth covid” or “ involving coronavirus”, i mean come on “involving” WTF is that all about!

When you revert to highlighting typos on posts typed in haste, to try and win an argument on here, you have lost. Keep to the feckin' subject. One of which you and Jim seem to have very little understanding of.

The newspaper I read gives me that figure. Still over 500 a week dying even in lockdown. As I don't have another source of figures those are the ones I use.
Is is alright if it's only 40,000 deaths?

I understand it all quite well thanks. Pointing out your ironic stupidity is my prerogative.

If Jim is advocating for no protection or any plan whatsoever like Sweden then he and I are in disagreement. If he is saying that the effect of national lockdowns may cause us more damage than help then fine (I’m undecided on that what I would say is that we cannot neglect people like we did in March-May).
If he is saying that we shouldn’t lockdown nationally and should focus on protecting the vulnerable then he and I are in agreement.

I do wonder how you arrive at the conclusion that I have very little understanding of the subject. I’ve read various studies, looked at a lot of data reported, looked at Sweden compared to their neighbours, I’ve now lost three family members to Covid-19, my job sector has been massively affected by Covid-19 as have most of not all. So other than the technical medical knowledge behind virology, epidemiology and vaccines - what exactly do you think I have little understanding of?

If anybody is still wondering why the all worlds governments have all gone along with the Covid Hyperbole. Consider that since September 2019 the Federal Reserve has pumped $9 trillion to primary dealers.

In 2020 alone the US has created 22% of all dollars issued since the birth of the nation 200 years ago.

The monetary system is on the brink of collapse and you are being sold a Scamdemic as a reason for this decades bailouts.

Tbf very few people will actually die from the virus. They'll die as a result of the damage the virus causes to organs. So if somebody dies of a heart attack as a result of having Covid, surely it makes sense to say that Covid was the key contributory factor of the death, even though the actual cause of death was the heart attack. I mean, you don't die from the flu either. It's the resultant pneumonia that takes the lives

Yeah the figures are always going to be a mess in both ways some listing covid even though it had little to do with it and others where covid triggered something else et cetera.

It’s an extremely difficult thing to accurately catalogue.

Agreed.
Sept 17th 2019, the day the 'repo-market' froze.
The day the current financial system finally imploded. Every fiat-currency in history has eventually died and since 2008 we have been witnessing the last desperate gasps of the current system as it goes the same way as those before.
We are living through the greatest economical change in history and sadly for many it won't be pretty and equally has nothing to do with a germ.
