I would find it very difficult to be negative about our young players after reading that. Not that I am negative by nature.
With any group of new players one cannot expect a 100% success rate and I'm sure that one or two will not, ultimately, make the grade. I would bet money that Silva, Ait-Nouri, Vitinha and Hoever become regular first teamers. If I was to bet against any of them it would be Gibbs-White who I put in he same group as Jordan Graham and Bright Enobakhare; excellent skills with bags of potential but always fail to deliver on the big stage.

Harsh to put Gibbs-White in the same bracket as Graham and Bright. Particularly as he has shown more than Vitinha in previous seasons and is the same age as him. He was also getting great reviews when on loan at Swansea.

We’ve seen glimpses of Gibbs White’s ability only unfortunately. One game at home to Chelsea he was exceptional, a couple of others he was good, and I’ve seen him have games for the u23s where he was a class apart. But far too often he has let the games pass him by. I’m confident he will become a very good player. Just hope that happens with Wolves

"Great reviews when on loan at Swansea"
"Games for the u23s where he was a class apart"
These things I do not dispute but my worry is that he just is not capable of performing at Premier League level.
I may well be wrong and I sincerely hope I am. It must of course be borne in mind that he is still only 20 years-old (21 in 2 weeks time) so he has plenty of time to develop into the player we all hope he can be. I guess like anyone else he needs game time, there really is no substitute for playing matches is there?

He was getting great reviews at Swansea. That being so, what won’t help him is recalling him from there and then not playing him

Correct!

Yeah, he needs to be played here if he is recalled. I don't think we have helped his development the last few years. Same with Vinagre.

Of the other youngsters I think Hoever is the most certain to make the grade. And he could do that either as a full back/wing back or centre back.

I don’t think there’ll be a problem with Silva either. Just a shame he has been forced into the limelight earlier than planned

Jury out at the moment with Ait Nouri and Vitanha but both have shown they have something. I’m tempted to say I’d be more confident about Otasowie

Ait-Nouri will be a top quality player. He will be one we will kick ourselves over in the future if we allowed him to move on.

MGW does get a game and Fabio keeps his place

Rui in for Ruddy and MGW in for Traore tonight. The only changes.

Big chance for MGW.

Traore not even on the bench. Must have picked up an injury.

posted on 12/1/21

would assume that Silva and Neto are up front with MGW behind them?

posted on 12/1/21

Traore had a tight hamstring at the end of the Palace game

Bet he Everton full backs are sad about that

posted on 12/1/21

Without Traore and Podence we will certainly play narrower than usual. Certainly hope MGW doesn’t get asked to play wide

posted on 12/1/21

Everton don’t play with wingers so probably the thought will be that Semedo and Ait Nouri can get forward more

A midfield diamond would be something we have never tried before. I imagine it will be 4-3-3 with Neto, Silva and MGW operating as the front three.

Just reading that our old friend Paul Lambert is in trouble at Ipswich following what’s described as a dressing room mutiny. Who’d have thought it

LoonWolf... I notice you have no spaces in that name, just like you didn't with LoneWolf.

I however leave a space (Lone Wolf), so don't try and convince me you're not one of the same.

Anyway, to move on. Good to see Silva up front. Is it 4-2-3-1?

Sheff Utd up 1-0 with minutes left.

Have them down in both pred comps for the win tonight. Inspired

Be interesting to see where MGW plays. I hope it isn't in a front three as i don't think that suits his style at all.

Match not on cable over here. Got the Burnley v Man Utd one.

Big domestic derby tonight but she's not here so won't be quite so much fun as usual.

I'd got blades v mags down for a draw. Long wait for a win that.
