I would choose Traore over Podence but who starts isn’t the only point regarding having so many players injured. Whoever doesn’t start gives us some strength from the bench that we’ve been sadly missing for most of this season. In an ideal world I’d now have a first team and bench of;
Patricio
Boly Coady Kilman
Semedo Neves Dendoncker Jonny
Traore Jimenez, Neto
Bench - Ruddy, Saiss, Marcal, Hoever, Marcal, Moutinho, Podence, Jose, Silva
No doubt in my mind that would be a first team and bench good enough to get us back into Europe. Lack of cover has been as much as anything what’s stopped us breaking into the top 6 the last two seasons. But with a less busy medical room I think we can be a lot closer next season. And I suspect we’ll add a couple of good signings to that squad in the summer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Marcal is such a good sub I’d have him there twice

since promotion nuno ,backed by fosun, has set us up as a defensive, counter attacking, low scoring team.
that has got us two 7th place finishes, an fa cup semifinal and a european quarterfinal.
in the 35 years before nuno and fosun we were mainly championship with occasional dips into league 1 and relegation fighting premier.
halfway through this season we are 14th, mainly due to injuries to key players. if raul, jonny and willy had not been out i don't think it's too fancifull to say that we could be 10 pints better off - that would put us on 37 points which is where everton are now - in 7th !!!
fosun, nuno and the players have given us fans more than we could dream of just a few years ago - now we're in a temporary dip surely they're entitled to understanding and support.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Worth noting Nuno has also dropped Boly this season because of poor performances. And yes we would have a few more points I am sure with a fully fit squad. But here again, the only long term injuries from last season have been Jonny and Raul, one we went into the season knowing he was out so had plenty of time to prepare, unfortunately one came with an injury hit career and one has struggled in our defence first system.
Losing Raul the way we did is very frustrating but any top seven club should at least have a back up, we didn't have one. But yet some still can't have anyone criticising such a stupid mistake.
Saiss? Most using injuries as an excuse don't want him in the team anyway? Podence? Most again would bench him and start Traore and Neto.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so as far as you're concerned its ballbags to support and understanding

I agree that squad is good enough for top six, hence my frustration with how negatively we play, in my mind we easily finish top six last season if we were a little braver at times. Add in a good summer transfer wise and no excuse for us really pushing top six hard again.

Why would they? Business men aren't they so they should be able to take criticism when it is justified.
I can't imagine for one second they don't realise the error they made in not having back up to Raul do you? The fact they went out and signed someone in January suggests they realise that error.
Perhaps you mean Nuno? My criticism of Nuno is he is too negative. He is trying to change that this season, hindered by injuries it hasn't worked, so Nuno and I despite all the BS on this page are actually on the same wavelength while others seem afraid to change things.
your arrogance leads you to think that you alone have called for some changes but unfortunately for your ego thats not correct .i've pointed out the danger in relying on rauls fitness and in trying a more attacking midfield.
the difference between me and you is what ive said - understanding and support when my suggestions dont happen.
not that wolves and their fans will notice your lack of support - if i remember correctly the last time you were in the uk you couldn't find the time to get to a game.
This is warming up nicely...………

The conclusion I have from this debate is that it isn’t Nuno who is rigid, defensive and boring, it’s cinci. Nuno has tried to play in a more expansive way while handicapped by injuries. We have played at times with 4 attackers, we have played so openly that poor teams like Albion and Brighton scored 3 each against us, we’ve given first team chances to a host of new players, and despite all this, the criticism hasn’t changed one bit. Negative style, been bored with how we’ve played for 18 months, rigid in our approach.
The only thing that’s been constant and predictable this season is the comments cinci makes in the match threads
Dj is right, we have been a breath of fresh air, one shot on target a game is perfectly acceptable (sometimes none). Our direct attacking approach is clearly highlighted in us being one of the sides with the shortest amount of time in the opposition third three seasons running. I apologise for my remarks.

Story is that Vitinha won't be staying and doesn't want to. Like the look of him at times but he hasn't had much of a chance really. Wouldn't be upset if we let he and Ait-Nouri go though I have no doubt we will be asking why with Ait-Nouri a few years from now.
Some positive news on the injury front. Jonny of course now back, Saiss was on the bench last game, Ait Nouri is available for the game tomorrow and Marcal is only a couple of weeks away.
Downside of course is that this has coincided with Boly and Podence now being out

Best defender at the club and vital if we want a solid back four next season
